These things are hoaxes.

For one thing, Bill Gates is no longer the CEO of Microsoft.

For another, look up the alleged pieces about this in USA Today and on Goodmorning America's website and you won't find anything about it.

Thirdly, if everybody actually did this, even Bill Gates would be bankrupt.

Got fooled by this once and am still waiting for Microsoft to contact me.

You can't sue somebody for failing to keep a promise they never made.
