A Wonderful Mystery
Have you ever wondered why God chooses certain people to do certain things to have certain impacts on our lives? You've had at least one, that math teacher in 7th grade who made multiplication of fractions seem less like torture and more like something worth doing. For me the people I'm going to talk about are far closer to home.
Who are they? They happen to be my mom and dad, and as my birthday approaches I am still trying to solve a mystery. Why did God hand pick Doug and Denyse Ardiel to be my parents?
In my almost 46 trips around the sun I can remember things that go back decades. One of my very early memories is my mom talking to me in an encouraging way, teaching me to pick myself up, dust myself off, and keep trying. Her example went further than that, she taught me to ask questions, stand for principles, and carry myself in a comfident but humble way.
For as far back as I could carry memories I always saw my dad as a quiet man given to humility and calm nature. Though a successful business man he never forgot his humble beginnings. I will also remember Christmas 1982 when he tried to put me at the top of our Christmas tree.
There are over eight billion people who call this planet home, and if I tried to think of all the things I can thank God for in regards to my parents, I definitely would lose count.
