By Geoffrey Wolff. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2010.
A slow read because it was so interesting.
This is a biography of Joshua Slocum, the first man to sail around the world solo. What makes it such a worthwhile read is the author's integration of information and analysis of Slocum, his profession and the times and circumstances in which he and his family lived.
A great read for both the adventure and the history.
