There is a teaching among the prosperity crowd that sowing seeds (as in we reap what we sow) means giving money to God's kingdom, i.e. sending the preacher you are currently watching on TV money.
However, anything we do in the name of Jesus, any good deed we do according to the Lord's will, is sowing the right kind of seed. When we bear witness, telling unbelievers about Jesus, we are sowing the good seed we should be sowing. When we do kind and loving (not always synonymous) things for others, we are sowing to reap a bountiful harvest.
