PROVERBS 22

Proverbs 22

v1: We must be careful that our good reputation doesn't come at the expense of obeying and witnessing for Jesus Christ.

v2: One day we'll all be dead and only whether or not we served Jesus Christ will matter.

v3: We can't take a naeve attitude toward people, asuming all people are basically good and harmless.

v4: Christians have eternal life in Jesus Christ. We will have the Lord's honour when he returns and says, "Well done, good and faithful servant." As far as riches, we will have an everlasting paradise to live in.

v6: Notice it says he will not depart from it, not that he will depart for many years and eventually come back. The thing you want to pray, hope and go for is to have the child never depart in the first place.

v7: Romans 13 8 means more than simply we should love our fellow man.

v10: If two people are fighting, there's usually a third party instigator.

v13: Lazy people will always use fear as an excuse to avoid doing anything.

v15: Contrast this verse with modern thinking about the wisdom of children. I'm not saying children have no wisdom, can't make a difference and should never be listened to, but God's truth is the truth. As stated previously, note that "rod of correction" doesn't necessarily mean physical discipline.

v17-21: A summation of chapters 1-9.

v26-27: There a whole lot of people out there who should have heeded these verses.

v28: Our God is a god of borders and boundaries.
