26TH EDITION OF LES RENDEZ-VOUS DE LA FRANCOPHONIE!

From March 1 to 31, let's celebrate the 26th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie!

Ottawa, February 29, 2024 – The Dialogue Foundation and its partners are about to launch the 26th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), which will be held from March 1 to 31, 2024. This year's theme: "Launch Into Discovery!"

Throughout the month of March, the spokespersons for the 2024 RVF, Micheline Marchildon and LeFLOFRANCO, will set off on a cross-Canada tour brimming with comedy and music. Many other activities will also be taking place throughout the country to celebrate Francophone culture.

As the Dialogue Foundation’s Executive Director, Ajà Besler, pointed out, "In its capacity as organizer of the RVF, the Foundation is proud to offer a variety of activities and contests that highlight the richness of Francophone culture and the vibrancy of Francophone communities. It's thanks to our partners that the RVF is able to offer so much content during the month of March, and we’re so grateful to them!"

A variety of fun contests

To showcase the French language and the Francophone and Acadian cultures, the RVF has a variety of contests in store on the theme of travel and discovery. There's something for everyone! And prizes valued at over $10,000 are up for grabs!

For the second consecutive year, the Franco-Tour contest, presented by Air Canada and the Language Portal of Canada (an initiative of the Translation Bureau at Public Services and Procurement Canada), will take you on a tour of Canada’s Francophonie and have you exploring five regions of the country.

The Explore the Francosphere contest, presented by NAV CANADA, VIA Rail Canada and Parks Canada, will give you a chance to discover a number of Francophone and Acadian artists and authors. And the Activity That's Going Places contest will literally have the winner travelling by train!

Finally, the Mots en couleurs and Danser avec les mots contests offer classroom activities to help students learn and have fun at the same time.

Activities across the country

Starting March 1, you’ll be able to explore the entire calendar of events for this year’s out-of-this-world edition! The RVF website gives you access to community and educational resources, to featured Francophone musicians and authors, and to activities and contests for students, which can be found in the “School Programs” section. As in past editions, the National Film Board is offering free films and will be featuring five exciting new selections.

“Through the Language Portal of Canada, Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Translation Bureau is once again taking part in this key event for Francophones and Francophiles across the country. We are very proud to help develop activities for young and old alike and to promote the various aspects of Francophone culture.” – Jean-François Lymburner, Chief Executive Officer of Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Translation Bureau.
