THANK YOU, LORD, FOR CREATING THE SUN

Sunshineis one of God’s simplest and most powerful gifts. From the very beginning, light was the first thing God called into existence:

Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.

Genesis 1:3, NASB

The sun continues to testify of God’s order, provision, and care for His creation.

1. Physical Benefits

Spending time in the sun helps our bodies produce Vitamin D, essential for healthy bones, a strong immune system, and emotional well-being. Moderate exposure to sunlight can reduce depression and increase energy. AsPsalm 84:11reminds us,For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

2. Spiritual Symbolism

Sunlight is often used in Scripture to represent God’s presence, truth, and righteousness. Just as the sun gives light to the earth, Jesus isthe Light of the world(John 8:12). When we walk in the light—both physically and spiritually—we are

reminded to live in truth, clarity, and openness before God.

            3. Encourages Praise and Reflection

A walk in the sun, surrounded by God’s creation, invites us to reflect on His goodness and praise Him for His handiwork. AsPsalm 19:1declares,“he heavens tell of the glory of God; and their expanse declares the work of His hands.

Let us give thanks for the sunshine and remember that every beam is a reminder of God’s grace, healing, and ever-present light in our lives. Step outside, lift your face to the sky, and let His creation renew your spirit.
