NO KING BUT KING JESUS

“No King but King Jesus:

The Cowboy’s Creed”

Dedicated to my heroes: Peter, Rich, Earl and Col. Jack.

Out where the prairie meets the sky,

And the eagle dares to fly up high,

A cowboy bows his weathered head,

And thanks the Lord for daily bread.

With boots worn thin from trails he’s rode,

He lifts the cross, not just the load.

His flag waves highred, white, and blue,

But Christ’s own banner waves there too.

He rides for freedom, rides for right,

Defends the truth with all his might.

He ain’t ashamed to kneel and pray,

While cattle low and children play.

He knows this land was bought with blood,

Through valleys deep and judgment’s flood.

From Calvary’s hill to Bunker Hill,

The price was paid, and he stands still.

No king but Christ rules in his soul,

No tyrant takes what God made whole.

He’ll hold the linebold, brave, and true,

Like patriots of seventy-two and seventy-six

The Bible’s worn, the leather cracked,

But every word he’s ever backed.

He lives by grace and rides by grit,

Where Spirit, Truth, and duty sit.

He sees this land from shore to shore,

As blessed by God forevermore.

And with his brothers strong and free,

He shouts in faith and victory:

This is the land, and we are the people,

One nation still under God.

Thankful that we are the covenant people,

Called to stand firmneath cross

God please Bless your people.

This is the new JerUSAlem

God’s light still shines through freedom’s gem.

His covenant we still defend, With cowboy courage to the end.

So tip your hat and raise your eyes,

To western trails and freedom’s skies.

For cowboy hearts and Christian men

Will ridetil Christ returns again.

And when he rides through heaven’s gate,

Where saints and angels congregate,

You’ll hear him shout with holy trust,

No King but King Jesus!
