Slavery did not start and end in America. It is a phenomenon as old as prostitution which is itself slavery. The slaves that came to America were stolen from their homeland and sold to slave traders by black people.
The stealing and selling of people into slavery has been with us for thousands of years and it's still very much with us throughout the world today. Present-day slavery issues are more relevant than historical ones.
It's not about where we've been but where we are and where we're going.
Denying it will only make it stronger.
