SEAWORTHY: ADRIFT WITH WILLIAM WILLIS IN THE GOLDEN AGE OF RAFTING

By T. R. Pearson. New York: Crown Publishers, 2006.

Darn exciting doesn't even begin to describe this book!

This is the biography of a man who, in the mid-twentieth century, set sail on homemade rafts intent on crossing the Pacific first, then the Atlantic Ocean.

Willis got into enough scrapes just being out on the sea, and his tendencies to not employ forethought, cheap out on supplies and materials, and feel that certain things wouldn't happen to him only increased the perilousness of his journeys. Reading what happened to this adventurer, who was sixty when he set out to reach Australia by raft for the first time, will cause you to put down your book in astonishment and just as quickly make you long to keep reading.

Purchase it hear.
