JENNIFER LAWRENCE FORGETS ABOUT SIGOURNEY WEAVER AND A FEW OTHER FEMALE ACTION STARS

Not the Bee

Jennifer Lawrence says there were no female action heroes before she did "The Hunger Games" so please take a moment to mourn for Sigourney Weaver who apparently never existed

As the old saying goes, Jennifer Lawrence gonna Jennifer Lawrence:

I remember when I was doing "Hunger Games," nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn't work — because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead. And it just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions that they've always been in.

Man, she really nails it, doesn't she? Nobody ever gave women any action movie opportunities before 2012, right?

Apropos of nothing, here is some random lady named Sigourney Weaver absolutely lighting up a bunch of alien eggs with a combo flamethrower/10x24mm M41A Pulse Rifle:

I dunno when they made that movie but it must've been after Jennifer Lawrence made hers.

And here's a woman named Linda Hamilton letting rip with an absolute beast of a CAR-15 in the back of a SWAT van while driving down a Los Angeles freeway and being shot at by a mimetic polly-alloy death-machine:

Just absolute dynamite stuff here. I guess that movie was released in, what, 2016? After "Hunger Games" came out, anyway.

Another movie that came out long after "Hunger Games" is a little-known film named "Star Wars" with a protagonist that's so obscure I doubt you've heard of her.

And here's a rando nobody named Uma Thurman getting prepared to dispatch several dozen Yakuza warriors at the same time:

We can't show you any more of that because the female protagonist quickly goes on to dismember/disembowel pretty much every single one of those warriors.

Suffice it to say this movie couldn't have come out prior to the Hunger Games, at least if you believe Jennifer Lawrence.

And why would any of us doubt Jennifer Lawrence??
