JOSHUA 14-24

Joshua 14 10-11: This passage proves humans don't have to deteriorate as they age.

Joshua 20: How should manslaughter be handled under the law of God today? Since Christ is our high priest and he is eternal, the cities of refuge system wouldn't work for handling this problem. Thus, what penalty should a manslayer receive today?

Which is more cruel: to ostracize someone for the rest of their life in this world--either in prison or kept from leading a normal life on account of their criminal record, or to execute them so that they can go live where nothing from their past is ever held against them? Of course, it would all depend upon if they were actually "saved" beforehand, but since that can happen even as late as just before a person takes their last breath, appearances should not be taken into account.

I agree with you. I am in favour of the death penalty as prescribed for the crimes in God's law. God did not set the ancient Israelites up with jails. In addition to the reasons you mentioned, jails require people to staff them which takes people away from other roles they could be fulfilling in society. Also it's well known prison only helps people be better criminals.

Things sure look different when looking at them through His eyes--huh?

They sure do. Since getting closer to God in the last few years, I can hardly believe how differently I think about things than I did several years ago when I was more worldly in my thinking. It's also amazing to look at how my non-Christian friends think versus the Christian friends I have.

Be assured that you are being greatly blessed with like-minded others to have fellowship with. For I have been looking for such since '93. Yes, a few relationships have showed some promise, but none of them lasted very long at all. Be assured that I am very hopeful about you.

Thanks for the encouragement. Indeed, I am very blessed in that regard. I've really been enjoying the discussions we've had on here. In offline life over the past few years I've also been getting closer to some of the men in my church as well as other Christians in the community. There are also a couple Christian men whom I fellowship with over the phone as well as a Seventh-day Adventist pastor I get together with fairly frequently.
