Andrew Sullivan sure likes to screw things up beyond all recognition.
First of all, each of these three books upon which the 1987 TV mini-series was based could have been their own movie. There is enough material in each that a competent director could have made three separate compelling views.
Second, so many liberties are taken with the story as to make this film a travasty. I particularly disliked "The Sequel's" treatment of the cow-selling incident from "Anne of Avonlea."
First of all, Rachel Lynde wouldn't have treated Anne the way she did because Anne and Mrs. Lynde made up near the beginning of "Anne of Green Gables."
Second, was Sullivan too cheap to hire another actor to play the irate neighbour whose name escapes me?
