(SCHAUMBURG, Ill) – August 14, 2026 — Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) has sent letters to U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney urging both leaders to work toward a fair, predictable and mutually beneficial trade relationship that supports the North American heavy equipment industry.
AED also sent a letter to Dominic LeBlanc, Canada’s Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade, urging the Canadian government to use the current momentum in negotiations to reach a swift resolution to the ongoing tariff dispute and restore free and fair trade across North America.
AED is the largest Canada-U.S. trade association representing the full spectrum of the heavy equipment industry, including construction, agriculture, mining, forestry, and transportation. AED members operate more than 7,200 locations, generate more than $100 billion in annual revenue and employ more than 140,000 people across North America.
“AED members supply and servicethe equipment needed to feed, fuel and build North America,” said AED President and CEO Brian P. McGuire. “We will continue advocating in both Washington and Ottawa for free and fair trade between both countries that provides the certainty equipment dealers and manufacturers need to invest and grow.”
AED has been engaged on trade issues since the beginning of the current tariff dispute, advocating for equipment dealers and the broader industry through meetings with government officials in both Ottawa and Washington. The association will continue to represent the equipment industry’s interests as negotiations move forward.
