| Hello, The Accessible Reading Symposium is a free online event created for you. We are bringing together readers, authors, libraries, content providers, publishers, and technology developers/providers to celebrate accessible reading and to share practical demonstrations, introductory knowledge, and different viewpoints on accessible reading. Special guests include Canadian author and disability rights advocate Amanda Leduc. She is the author of DISFIGURED: ON FAIRY TALES, DISABILITY, AND MAKING SPACE, which was shortlisted for the 2020 Governor General’s Award in Nonfiction. What’s on the schedule? Over two days, interesting sessions will cover everything from author talks to technology demonstrations offered by professionals with lived experience, to discussions about accessible reading in the library, technology and publishing sectors. Learn more about exciting new developments, international collaborations, and the behind the scenes work happening to support readers of accessible books. The goals of the Symposium are to help everyone better understand accessible reading and formats and provide library staff and readers with print disabilities the opportunity to explore available tools, formats, and services. Coming together as a sector will strengthen knowledge among libraries, content providers, publishers, technology providers, and, of course readers. Who should come? Visit the CELA website for:
But don’t delay. The Symposium happens Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday March 12. You are welcome to attend all of it, or join for the sessions that interest you. Registration is free and all sessions are accessible. We hope to see you there! The Accessible Reading Symposium is a collaboration between Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA), National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS) and Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
