This movie could have been so much more.
The real story of this film is a character drama about a girl who grew up in a dysfunctional home and her resultant lack of confidence in pursuing a loving relationship when she had never had that modeled. Instead, the filmmakers turned that possible film into another cliched romantic comedy. We see one flashback of Lisa and Stanley when Lisa was seven, but their needed to be more flashbacks as well as some serious, thematic dialogue at the end with Christian Slater's character in order for "Bed of Roses" to reach its unrealized potential.
