PROVERBS 17

Proverbs 17

v1: Dry bread tastes better in an atmosphere of genuinely godly people than a meal in a house of supposedly godly people who are always fighting.

v3: Our God is a refining fire.

v5: As people of God, we need to have compassion for people.

v6: God's way is for families to be living in harmony, the grandparents and parents teaching the children so that, among other reasons, the children are more lovable and easier to raise.

v9: See 1 Corinthians 13 about how love keeps no record of wrongs.

v10: This verse underscores the importance of being gentle in our dealings with people. A gentle correction to a wise person is all that's needed, whereas you could beat a fool a hundred times and it wouldn't do any good.

v12: You'll fair better if you get between a mother bear and her cubs than if you try to correct a fool's mistaken beliefs.

v15: Both these kinds of abominable people are quite prominent in our society today, including the one who says the Christian is wrong for protesting abortion and the ones who come up with an illness for everything instead of calling sin sin.

v17: Your real friends and those who are true brothers and sisters in Christ will always stick with you.

v21: Listening to a lot of these social justice warriors, I often wonder what it must be like for their parents having to deal with them.

v27: If the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we will have His understanding. If we have the Holy Spirit's understanding, we will have a good attitude. If we have a good attitude borne of the understanding and knowledge that comes from the Holy Spirit, then we will control our speech.

v28: A lot of these social justice warriors would at least seem a lot smarter if they didn't talk so much.
