By Helen Dunmore. London: Viking, 2000.
Transports you to a cornucopia of places, lives and situations.
I didn't end up enjoying the previous Helen Dunmore short story collection I had read, "Love of Fat Men", so I was hesitant to start "Ice Cream", but I'm glad I did. The stories in this book are evocative and varied, from a woman having a baby in a future totalitarian regime, to the childhood downfall of a girl's idyllic life, to the title story about a supermodel's unnecessary battle with ascetic temptation.
