PROVERBS 21

Proverbs 21

v3: We are now under the new covenant. Jesus was the final sacrifice and now we live justly by faith in that sacrifice.

v5: If you keep at something, you will see results, but if you give up easily because nothing appears to be happening yet, you won't have anything.

v9: It's preferable to live in a little apartment at the top of someone else's house than to live in a mansion with a woman who likes to pick arguments with you.

v15: Christians enjoy doing good to others, even though, to the wicked doing so doesn't seem rewarding and may in fact seem silly. However, all those selfish unbelievers have to look forward to is eternal destruction in Hell.

v16: See the warning in Hebrews about falling away.

v17: If you spend all your time and money on living it up, in the end you'll have nothing to show for it.

v20: Following on verse 17, wise people are careful with their money and thus have money. However, fools spend all their money on stupid stuff and things they don't need and end up with nothing.

v21: This life, righteousness and honour is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

v23: Alot of people could have avoided a lot of their problems if they just talked less.

v27: If you don't love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, then don't go through the motions of serving Him in hopes you'll make it into Heaven anyway.

v30: There is no teaching in any other religion, belief system, spirituality, or philosophy that can disprove or lead to a better path of life or salvation than Christianity.

v31: As Christians, we practice safety and take appropriate precautions to avoid bad things happening and, indeed, it is right and wise to do so. However, we ultimately rely on the Lord for our safety, health, protection, and welfare. It is also a good idea to prayerfully and wisely consider what people, especially         those in power, are telling you you must do in order to stay safe.

MEDIA-RELATED STUFF

Didn't know Peter Sherman was still doing voicework until I heard him on WLS Chicago a few weeks ago.

Liked Ben MacMurchy's recent video about working in a call centre. Not that Bmac will ever reach the heights of this man, but I kind of compare the contents of the video to Gene Shepard.

101.5 The Wolf Peterborough, why did you play "Thriller" last night for Halloween. Don't you have plenty of rock songs glorifying Satan in your playlist?

Sad to have just learned of the death of Peter Benner, station manager of CHCR-FM Killaloe.

Also shocked to have learned of the death of WTAM Cleveland's Mike Trivisonno.

PROVERBS 20

Proverbs 20

v1: This verse isn't condemning the consumption of alcohol entirely. Rather, Solomon is simply telling his son to be judicious.

v2: By being disobedient to the King of the universe, the wicked are sentencing themselves to His wrath on judgment day.

v3: If you don't constantly stick your nose in other people's business, people will respect you and you will have done the wise thing, whereas if you don't mind your own business you'll end up causing bad blood between the different people you've been meddling with as well as between them and yourself.

v4: It's cold in March and early April when you plant a crop. The lazy person will always use the difficulty in starting something as an excuse never to do anything. It indeed can be a challenge to begin something, but once you've done so the task tends to get easier and you have more motivation to see it through.

v6: Most people are quick to say they're a good and loyal person, but truly loyal people are hard to find.

v9: As it says in 1 John, Christians never become totally sinless in this life.

v10: Cheating people in your business dealings is looked on as a serious matter in God's eyes.

v12: God, through His Spirit, gives us the ability to see the world through His eyes and to understand what He tries to communicate to the people He created.

v13: Don't wait around. Work and you'll have something to show for it; don't work and you won't.

v15: In the end, our knowledge of God will profit us more than any precious material thing we could think of.

v18: If you've got a big decision to make or if you're thinking of undertaking something significant, seek good advice. Don't go off half-cocked.

v22: God can execute vengance on the evildoer and save you, the righteous follower of Him, way better than you can save yourself or avenge yourself against that person who has wronged you.

v29: Our culture prizes youth over age, but this verse indicates there are advantages in all stages of life.

NO ONE IS BORN THAT WAY

When I repented of my sins at 14, one of the issues I had to deal with right away (it being 1998) was that of homosexuality. Though I'd never thought much about it and I thankfully grew up in an atmosphere where it was viewed as at least somewhat unnatural, in hearing the left-wing part of the world's propaganda on the subject, I knew I had to get some answers. I knew people couldn't have been born that way because children don't have romantic attractions or sexual feelings and I had heard about various causes over the years.

lays out such causes and shows the complex nature of what makes one attracted to the same sex and, by extension, what makes one heterosexual as well.

PROVERBS 19

Proverbs 19

v1: It's better to be poor and do the right things than to be a fool before God, constantly speaking folly.

v5: Purgery is a serious offense, and according to Revelation, all liars wind up in the lake of fire for eternity.

v6: If you have power, influence or money, everyone acts like your friend.

v8: If you become a Christian (Acts 2 38) then it means you love your soul because you don't want it to suffer eternal death in Hell, and all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8 28.)

v9: A re-iteration of verse 5. As we constantly see in the Book of Proverbs, important truths are worth repetition.

v11: We need God's wisdom to be able to see all sides of a situation and not fly off the handle at the least little things.

v13: A son who is an idiot brings nothing but chaos and problems to his father and a nagging wife is like Chinese water torture.

v17: See what Jesus had to say about the sheep and the goats.

v18: People today have an attitude that they shouldn't discipline their children in any way because they're only young once, but a child who doesn't learn what they need to learn while still a kid is less likely to learn how to get along in life as a less malleable adult. Additionally, when this man or woman-child starts getting into trouble because they've never been taught any better, those parents who didn't do their job are going to come to grief constantly rescuing their wayward youth or grown child from numerous scrapes.

v19: People who are quick to anger just keep having it bite them in the butt over and over again.

v20: If you listen to and practice wisdom, then you will be able to pass that wisdom on to the younger generation when you are old, both verbally and by example.

v29: All those who are presently mocking God and refusing to follow His wisdom are going to find themselves being punished on judgment day.

THE INSANITY OF SOCIALISM

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. In our society there are more and more calls for socialism and increasingly socialist policies despite the fact that from Russia to Cambodia to Cuba, socialism has never worked.

Now, the liberals in the sixties may have had some good ideas, but these days civil rights for black people has turned into police not being allowed to enforce the law and fascist dictums about what we can read, view and say.

That's right, I said fascist, because socialism or communism always becomes fascism. When the socialists in a particular nation can't get the people to go along with their vision of how the world should be they force the people to comply.

We'd better make an abrupt turn around from this left-wing direction in which the West is headed or we'll be the next China, Vietnam or Romania, or, for that matter, the next Spain or Nazi Germany.

PROVERBS 18

Proverbs 18

v1: If you really want to grow in Christ, you first have to have the desire to do so. Then you have to spend time by yourself, praying and studying the Word. Of course, fellowship is also necessary, but that time alone with the Lord is so valuable because it shuts out the noise of the world.

v8: Gossip truly can hurt people.

v9: Just as he who wastes material things wastes resources, a lazy person is the same way in that he wastes time.

v10: If we are in Christ then no evil in any ultimate sense can befall us. To live is Christ and to die is gain.

v11: Conversely, the rich man who is worshipping his wealth, relying on it for his protection as opposed to Jesus, is going to be sadly disappointed when that city wall of wealth is burned up along with everything else in the end according to 2 Peter.

v13: We have too much of this in our society today, especially about things in the news that happened in places hundreds or thousands of miles away.

v15: A true Christian seeks (and finds) knowledge about all areas of life, not just the most important area of how to follow Christ. I have noticed, however, that most Christians just want to go on thinking whatever they've always thought.

v17: As said above, there is too much jumping to conclusions in our society today. Christians who were quick to jump on the George Floyd bandwagon last year ought to keep this verse in mind.

v22: Despite what our culture thinks, marriage is an honourable thing and a good wife is a real blessing to a man.

v24: To have a friend you must be a friend. Jesus was a friend to us and showed it by dying for us at Calvary.

ICE CREAM

By Helen Dunmore. London: Viking, 2000.

Transports you to a cornucopia of places, lives and situations.

I didn't end up enjoying the previous Helen Dunmore short story collection I had read, "Love of Fat Men", so I was hesitant to start "Ice Cream", but I'm glad I did. The stories in this book are evocative and varied, from a woman having a baby in a future totalitarian regime, to the childhood downfall of a girl's idyllic life, to the title story about a supermodel's unnecessary battle with ascetic temptation.

Purchase it here.

PROVERBS 17

Proverbs 17

v1: Dry bread tastes better in an atmosphere of genuinely godly people than a meal in a house of supposedly godly people who are always fighting.

v3: Our God is a refining fire.

v5: As people of God, we need to have compassion for people.

v6: God's way is for families to be living in harmony, the grandparents and parents teaching the children so that, among other reasons, the children are more lovable and easier to raise.

v9: See 1 Corinthians 13 about how love keeps no record of wrongs.

v10: This verse underscores the importance of being gentle in our dealings with people. A gentle correction to a wise person is all that's needed, whereas you could beat a fool a hundred times and it wouldn't do any good.

v12: You'll fair better if you get between a mother bear and her cubs than if you try to correct a fool's mistaken beliefs.

v15: Both these kinds of abominable people are quite prominent in our society today, including the one who says the Christian is wrong for protesting abortion and the ones who come up with an illness for everything instead of calling sin sin.

v17: Your real friends and those who are true brothers and sisters in Christ will always stick with you.

v21: Listening to a lot of these social justice warriors, I often wonder what it must be like for their parents having to deal with them.

v27: If the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we will have His understanding. If we have the Holy Spirit's understanding, we will have a good attitude. If we have a good attitude borne of the understanding and knowledge that comes from the Holy Spirit, then we will control our speech.

v28: A lot of these social justice warriors would at least seem a lot smarter if they didn't talk so much.

BEING VULNERABLE

When I say the word vulnerable, what first comes to mind? Do you picture a small child or an elderly person? Does a negative image appear, or have you never really given it much in the way of thought? As Christians we should allow ourselves to be vulnerable for God, away of letting Him in to whatever you or I might be facing.

For the last several months I have experienced abdominal pain and weight loss. I have gone to many doctors and had tests, but haven’t really gotten many answers. On July 20 2021 I felt and experienced stomach pain like I had never really experienced. I thought I was passing a kidney stone or something of that nature, and ended up calling an ambulance. I live in the inner-city, so am not far from some world class level 1 trauma centers. I got there shortly after ten PM that night, and then the waiting began.

As I waited to see the physician on duty I reminded myself of two truths.

1. that unlike the rotary phone I had as a small child God’s line is never too busy.

2. that whatever this is God’s in control. I As I continued to wait, and as the pain tortured me in its own horrible way I alternated between reciting Scriptures in my head, and praying.

My emergency room visit turned out to be inconclusive, so more tests were ordered. I was not so much worried, but allowed myself to let God comfort me. I also reminded myself of this revival I had been involved in in January, of which the theme was Wake Me, Break Me, Send Me.

Like I said I have had to have some recent tests and procedures, some of which I could not be by myself for. My mom, who lives about a hundred fifty miles away came to stay with me for the preparations, and to make sure after the procedures I was ok.

Vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, we are to humble ourselves, and allow God to work on and in us. In these last few months I have really learned to, as my friend in Alabama says, “let go and let God.” It’s been quite a tough time, but I’ll get through.

PROVERBS 16

Proverbs 16

v1: Man makes his plans, and then we find out the Lord totally had something else in mind.

v2: We always justify and rationalize things but God knows the real reason we do anything.

v3: If we are committed to following God, then we will be doing what we do for the right reasons.

v4: God created a people to worship Him voluntarily. He could have made us as robots who automatically love God unquestioningly, but to do so wouldn't be love. Therefore, He gives man whom he has created a choice to follow and obey Him or not. Romans 1 says we're all born knowing God, in adition to Creation and our conscience as evidence of God's existence, so the wicked are thus sentencing themselves to eternity in Hell.

v6: We can try to be good in our own strength, but it's only through taking advantage of the mercy Jesus offers us at the cross and the truth whom Jesus is, and then living a life of reverence toward God that we can truly measure up to God's standard in His eyes and stop committing the sins we have been.

v8: You can have a lot of money but if you don't know the Lord, that wealth will all come to nothing in the end, whereas if you are poor but a follower of Jesus, you at least know you have rightstanding with the eternal God.

v9: Again, we can make our plans, but it's the Lord who ultimately decides what comes to fruition.

v10: On judgment day, no one will wind up in Hell who shouldn't have. Our perfect God doesn't make mistakes.

v11: Since God makes everything, even the metals used to produce weights and measures for totaling prices at the time this was written, then to defraud someone is a much more serious sin than we would think.

v12: The institution of civil government was established by God for the purpose of keeping godly order in society. Therefore, if a king is doing evil as well as encouraging evil in some way, that is a horribly wicked sin since that man is perverting an institution ordained by God. (See also Romans 13.)

v13: Earthly rulers are supposed to love truth, including He who is the truth.

v14: To break a civil law should be the same as breaking God's law because, as civil government is an institution brought about by God, His law and man's law should harmonize. Therefore, a wise man will obey God's law, thus simultaniously obeying man's law, hence not having to fear the wrath of the legal system.

v15: The civil leaders should promote life, not have laws permitting abortion. Earthly rulers should also act in accordance with God in every other way, such that in being around them, one should feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.

v16: Again, all the wealth in the world isn't going to do us any good in the end if we don't have godly wisdom and understanding to know what to do with it.

v17: Jesus is the way. If we follow Him, are soul is safe.

v18: This verse is often slightly misquoted, but I'm thankful the sentiment is still out there. I've definitely found this verse to prove itself true oftentimes.

v19: It's better to have spent your life with humble and godly poor people than to be punished for the sin of participating in filthy lucre at the judgment.

v23: If we have pure hearts filled with Jesus then we will say wise, intelligent things.

v25: People think they know best, but how wrong they're going to be proven in the end.

v31: Our society, to the extent it has any respect left for elderly people, tends to go with the notion that if someone is elderly, that automatically means they are wise. However, this is only ultimately and truly the case if that person is a follower of Christ. I've seen plenty of foolish and immature old people in my time.

BED OF ROSES

This movie could have been so much more.

The real story of this film is a character drama about a girl who grew up in a dysfunctional home and her resultant lack of confidence in pursuing a loving relationship when she had never had that modeled. Instead, the filmmakers turned that possible film into another cliched romantic comedy. We see one flashback of Lisa and Stanley when Lisa was seven, but their needed to be more flashbacks as well as some serious, thematic dialogue at the end with Christian Slater's character in order for "Bed of Roses" to reach its unrealized potential.

PROVERBS 15

v1: Oftentimes, its all in the way in which someone responds.

v2: A wise person says intelligent things at the right time, but a fool just pours out indiscreet stupidity from his mouth like a leaky pipe.

v3: God knows everything you do, say and even think.

v5: A foolish child thinks he knows better than his parents, but the wise child of godly parents benefits from listening to them.

v7: Wise people proclaim the true knowledge of Jesus Christ and the redemption and salvation He brings, whereas fools promulgate false knowledge that never has and never will save anyone's soul.

v8: God delights in the faithful prayer and the works that flow out of the faith His people have in Him, but wicked people who don't have a relationship with the Lorde needn't think they will get into Heaven simply because they said a prayer or two or many with no actual change of mind and resultant change of heart.

v9: Again, it's about seeking the ruler and creator of the universe's way of being right with Him, not following what we want to believe is the right way to make it.

v10: See what the author of Hebrews said about discipline.

v12: People with a scornful attitude toward God don't like to be told their behaviour is sinful and they won't ask the wise if their behaviour is sinful either due to their foolish pride and arrogance.

v14: When we become Christians and as we grow, we want to know about the things of God and how life and the world fit into a universe where He is the creator and ruler. Fools, however, only want more foolishness to confirm their false beliefs.

v16: It's better to be poor and godly than to be a rich sinner. One day, Christians will live in eternal perfection, pleasure and abundance; meanwhile, the wealth of the wicked will have been destroyed by fire as it says in 2 Peter and the wicked will be undergoing a state of eternal destruction in Hell.

v17: It's better to live in a loving home that is poor than to have everything in a household that doesn't get along.

v18: A bad-tempered person creates disputes, a person who is slow to get angry resolves disputes.

v21: Unbelievers enjoy going through life in their foolish ways, but the righteous understand that living God's way is the right way.

v24: The way of the God of Heaven brings abundant and eternal life to people, providing a way out of Hell for them.

v29: If you are wicked, God does not heed your prayers the way he heeds those of His people.

v31: It's always wise to listen to godly correction.

v32: When we listen to godly correction, we understand more and more about who God is and how to live in Him. Those who don't, however, hate their souls and wish them to be forever condemned in Hell.

v33: If we humble ourselves before the Lord and respect Him, we will then be wise and also receive honour in Heaven on that judgment day.

JESUS VERSUS SANTA CLAUSE

To many, this article will seem off the wall, but it clearly and thoroughly demonstrates that Santa Clause is indeed a counterfeit Jesus brought to us by the devil.

PROVERBS 14

Proverbs 14

v1: A woman operating in God's wisdom creates a good household, but a woman operating sinfully tears her household down.

v2: People don't respect or even want to acknowledge there is a God because of their sinful condition.

v4: If you work hard, then chances are you'll have something to show for it, whereas if you're lazy chances are you won't.

v6: People who are against God tend to look for wisdom in lots of other sources, but they never find the answer. A believer, however, gains the answers to the reality of the universe the more time he spends with the Lord.

v7: If you know someone is giving you a bunch of bull, turn them off.

v11: The wicked will perish in Hell but Christians will live eternally with God in our glorified bodies.

v12: Unbelievers want to live the way they think is right, but that only leads to eternal death in Hell.

v15: Don't believe everything you see, hear, read, etc. but always be thoughtful as you go through life.

v16: Believers respect God so they flee evil situations, but fools get angry if you point out something is evil and think their own way is best.

v17: If you are an unrighteous person who is easily angered and always thinking up ways to get back at or get  one over on others, then people will hate you.

v21: As Christians, it feels good to help people as opposed to harbouring feelings of hatred for them.

v23: It's one thing to constantly talk about how you are going to do something, but actions speak louder than words in that case.

v26: Those who respect the Lord can be sure of a place of eternal safety in Him, and they also don't need to fear he'll suddenly kick them out of His kingdom in this life.

v27: In our relationship with Christ we Christians find eternal life and are protected and guided away from those sins that lead to both physical death and eternal death in Hell.

v29: It's wise to be slow to get angry but someone who is quick to get angry ends up looking like a fool.

v34: We in the West wonder why we have so many social problems. This verse reveals the answer.

v35: When Christians act with the wisdom that comes from God, that is what will cause Jesus to call us good and faithful servants at the judgment (Matthew 25 23), but when we act outside of this wisdom, we bring shame upon God in the eyes of those to whom we have acted unrighteously.

WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT TELL THEIR KIDS ABOUT SANTA

We are indeed living in sad times when even Christian organizations are saying it's all right for Christian parents to tell their kids about the man in the red suit, but this Christian article gives lots of excellent reasons why that is the exact wrong thing to do.

Incidentally, I kind of even doubt whether St. Nicholas even existed. Goodness knows the Catholic church has lied about and fabricated so much else.

PROVERBS 13

Proverbs 13

v1: Honour your father and your mother as the fifth commandment says.

v2: If you're mean and quarrelsome with people, then violence toward you will be the result, but if you speak kindly to people, you will be rewarded.

v9: Jesus Christ is the light of the world (John 8 12.) Whatever false religion the unbeliever is following that he thinks is the true light will be proven false in the end.

v10: If you're proud and think your way of doing things is the best way above all others, then that will only lead to arguments with those involved in what you're doing, but if you listen to good advice, especially from others involved in the project, then you will be following a wise way of getting done whatever you want to get done.

v13: If we live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8 3), then we will be eternally rewarded, but if we want to follow what we think is right (Isaiah 4), we will be eternally destroyed.

v14: You can't believe how much God truly loves us. He gave us His law, every plank of it, because not following it hurts us in very real ways and He doesn't want to see any of us hurt.

v17: We are Christ's ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5 20.) If we remain loyal to Him, we will have eternal life and health, but if we act wicked, like the world, then we will be eternally punished in Hell.

v20: It's hard to soar with eagles when you work with turkeys.

v22: Don't believe these teachers who are telling you you shouldn't be concerned about leaving an inheritance for your children. In fact, you're supposed to ensure there's enough for your grandchildren as well (although your wealth shouldn't be accumulated at the expense of following Christ.) One day, we Christians will inherit a place in God's kingdom with Jesus Christ (Romans 8 29.)

v24: The idea here isn't, as is most often interpreted, that of corporal punishment, although good parenting can include corporal punishment at certain times. Rather, the idea is that of the parent shepherding their children, the way a shepherd has his rod to pull the sheep back into line when they start to stray off the path. God is our Father in Heaven and His Son (really a part of himself) Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd (John 10 11) lovingly and gently (although sometimes less gently than others) bringing us back in line with His teachings when we stray from the path of righteousness.

v25: Unbelievers are never content. They look forward to something, think it's going to be the cause of their fulfillment, partake of it, and only want more or something else. However, we believers in Jesus find our contentment in Him.

RADIO-RELATED STUFF: ALL ABOUT THE 1380

Good move on 1380 CKPC Brantford's part to have John Tesh on afternoon drive. In some markets he's more popular than the afternoon drive.

CKPC also broadcasts "Adventures in Odyssey." That station dates back to 1923. Way back when, the residents of Brantford and the surrounding area listened to radio drama on CKPC and now they can do so again.

Picked up WNOI Fort Wayne under CKPC yesterday afternoon.

PROVERBS 12

Proverbs 12

v5: When we listen to the advice of the unbeliever, it only makes us act more and more like the unbeliever and will bring us to no good end either in this life or the life to come, but when we listen to Biblically-sound advice, we end up taking the right path.

v7: One day the wicked will be gone but we Christians will live forever.

v15: We often have the thought to do something that so seems like the right thing, but following that often leads to trouble. However, if we listen to the wise advice of others on the matter, things will go a lot better for us.

v17: Though it can seem trite because we hear it so often, and even though doing so isn't prized in a lot of circles, it really is important to be honest.

v18 : See the passage in James about the power of the tongue. So many people are thoughtless with their words and end up doing a lot of damage to other people, but we Christians should always speak the way God wants us to speak.

v19: The truth is the truth and it stands for always, but eventually a lie will be found out.

v21: For the Christian, no evil in any ultimate sense can befall us (Romans 8 28.) However, the wicked only have evil to look forward to in Hell.

v22: Lying has a lot bigger consequences than we realize.

v25: Have you ever been having a bad day and then someone compliments you and whatever you were dealing with now doesn't seem so terrible?

v27: Industrious people care more about properly using their resources whereas lazy people don't.

v28: The righteous will not see death in any true sense. Our bodies may physically die but our spirits immediately go into the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5 8.) One day our bodies will rise from the grave, be glorified and perfected, joining our spirits in eternal life with Christ (1 Corinthians 15.)

CNIB, EITHER SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT

In 2021, with your organization having been around over 100 years, I should not have to explain the very basics of guiding to a hairdresser.

I should also not have to deal with questions online along the lines of, "If you're blind how are you able to use the internet?"

It seems you would have thought of this if you had any imagination or actually cared about blind people at all, but why not truly make an effert to educate the public about blindness? Why not produce advertising which could be run on traditional and social media attempting to clear up myths and misconceptions the public has about us.

Granted, you're never going to inform 100 percent of the people because there's no fixing stupid, but could you at least start to take some significant steps in that direction?

PROVERBS 11

Proverbs 11

v1: The Lord cares about all aspects of our lives, including our business dealings.

v3: This verse seems especially timely in light of the current vaccine mandates. As Christians, we must be guided by our God-given sense of doing the right thing. This will lead us into good (Romans 8 28) but the sinners who go along to get along will be destroyed in hellfire.

v4: Matthew 16 26

v7: The world puts its hope in so many things, but when the unbeliever dies and goes to Hell, he realizes the vanity of that false hope.

v13: Be loyal to the people in your life and keep the secrets they entrust to you.

v14: This verse tells us why fellowship is important. I don't mean going to church; I mean real, deep, interactive fellowship between brothers and sisters in Christ. Bouncing thoughts off each other about Christ and the Christian life is so important.

This verse could also make a case for why its important to listen to multiple Bible teachers. You need to get a variety of opinions and prayerfully digest them rather than relying on one man for all your spiritual truth.

v28: This verse corresponds with verse 4. If you are worshipping your wealth and making an idol out of pursuing the finest quality of material possessions, in the end you'll lose everything, including your wealth, but if you clothe yourself with Christ and His righteousness and trust in Him, then you will one day live in a world that is perfect, beyond anything money can buy today.

AH: This sounds like a good book. So many businesses fail within short order so it's good to have someone addressing the problems that can befall a business in a practical, easy to understand way.

PROVERBS 10

    Proverbs 10

v2: In the end, the thief, greedy man, extortionist, fraudster, etc. will go to Hell and not be able to keep his ill-gotten gains, but the righteous man will go to Heaven and live forever.

v19: Throughout my life, people have told me I should talk more. I am a pretty quiet person in real life and I don't think people quite know what to make of that. However, I have found that talking more only gets you into trouble. One of the best compliments I ever got was from my grade 7 teacher who said, "He's a man of few words, but he chooses those words carefully."

v25: As stated in verse 2, one day the wicked will be long gone, but the righteous will go on living forever.

v26: Trying to get a lazy person to do something for you is so irritating.

v28: There are a lot of wicked people in the world, especially among the globalist elite, who think they're going to live forever and are presently working hard to make that come about. However, one day the hope of the Christian for eternal life in a perfect world will be realized and the fear of the wicked, that of eternal death, will be realized as well.

v30: See verses 2 and 25. At times it can feel like God's people are going to be wiped out. Christian persecution is at high levels. However, God's Word says we Christians will never be removed.

ECCLESIASTES 12 8-14

v11: Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd.

v12: People love to write books and put out their opinions about how to do life. Many other people devote their lives to studying these books, as Solomon did, but unlike him, they never learn this is fruitless. Instead, we should follow the Good Shepherd and His Book and do as the next two verses say. If we do read other words of wisdom, as the apostle Paul did, then it is most important to use our God-given and created brains to take every thought captive to Jesus Christ and His way as2 Corinthians 10 5 says.

ROOSEVELT KNEW ABOUT PEARL HARBOR

It's been talked about in the alternative media not infrequently for years, and it's even been mentioned in the mainstream media, briefly when the movie "Pearl Harbor" came out (sixty years after it happened), but the fact FD    R knew about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was also mentioned in the mainstream media only four years after it happened, as this video shows.

ECCLESIASTES 8 14-12 7

9 5: This verse isn't saying the dead literally know nothing; it's saying all they've accumulated for their own benefit during their earthly life is now for naught.

v9: Even though Jesus made it quite clear in the Gospels their is no marriage in Heaven, we should enjoy our spouses in this present life because they are given to us by God.

Chapter 10

v1: This verse strongly warns we who call ourselves Christians that we truly have to walk that out. Though we won't be perfect and we won't always do the right thing, we have to try our best, with the help of and full reliance upon God, to be the best followers of Jesus we can be. If we get lax and start not caring about sins in our lives, our lives will then begin to look to others like a piece of meat, which is supposed to be succulent, or at least edible, covered in flies.

v3: This verse tells us we should not try to follow Christ without actually being saved (Acts 2 38.) If we just try to take it up like we'd take up golf or the guitar, that won't work. We will fail and look to everyone like the unrepentant fools we still are.

v14: Fools like to think they can predict the future. Just look at all the media pundits around these days. However, only God truly knows the future.

Chapter 11

v1 and 2: In an age when young people are basically being groomed all their lives to take one career path, these verses say you should develop a variety of skill sets. That way, if one doesn't work out, you have other things you can fall back on. In other words, if you send out fifteen ships full of grain to various ports, no matter what happens, at least one of them will return with the money from the sale of the grain or the goods for which you traded the grain. Whereas, if you send out only one ship and rely on that for your pay-out, if something happens to that ship, you are screwed.

v4: If you worry too much about whether or not now is the best time to undertake something, you'll never do anything.

v5: John 3

v 7 and 8: James 1 It's wonderful to remember the good moments in life, but when you look at the bad times, that can be a nice thing, too, because you remember how God brought you through them and how he used those troubles to grow you as a person. 2 Corinthians 1

Verses 9 and 10 of this chapter and the first seven verses of the following chapter present a contrast of sorts. Yes, you should enjoy your youth and have a good time, but you should also be using this time in your life to do work for God. If you keep putting off and putting off working for the King, then before you know it you'll be old, your eyes grow dim, your legs grow weak, your teeth ware down and fall out, your hearing go. Then, shortly after that, you'll be dead.

Don't get me wrong, I pray good health for God's people all the days of their lives, but the fact is, in this fallen world, the above still occurs to both the righteous and the wicked as they age.

MEDIA-RELATED STUFF: DEATH, DEATH, DEATH

Sad to learn of the death of actor and narrator of talking books Patrick Horgan.

Also sad to learn of the death of Letterman announcer Alan Kalter.

I was also sad to learn of the death of former broadcaster and narrator of talking books for the American Printing House Mitzi Friedlander back in August.

ECCLESIASTES 6 1-8 13

Chapters 6 and 7 present another under the sun versus over the sun contrast. Under the sun, there's no point to life, everything you do in life is worth nothing and the endless cycle of repetition continues. However, in chapter 7, the correct view is expounded, that if you seek to know and live by the wisdom that comes from God, that will ensure you have eternal life. If you go after worldly wisdom, as James compares in the New Testament, it'll become a trap, but if you seek out God's wisdom, you will gain the greatest reward.

Living by God's wisdom also begins and has to continually include genuine sorrow for sin. See Paul's explanation of the difference between worldly sorrow and odly sorrow in 2 Corinthians. The idea here in Ecclesiastes 7 is that of repentance, which is a change of mind from an under the sun, worldly view of things, to an over the sun, godly view of things. A genuine change of mind of this type will invariably include sorrow for sins and a genuine desire to change, as well as regular prayers to God to that affect and actions of change that will flow out of your repentant relationship with Christ.

7 9: James 1 19

7 10: Don't go on and on about the good old days. There has been no time  in history since Genesis 3 when everything was genuinely great and perfect.

Chapter 8

v1 and 2: 1 Corinthians 8 1 Worldly wisdom makes a man proud and arrogant, but God's wisdom which is inherently accompanied by love makes one a genuinely better person.

v9-13: Again, this passage contrasts a previous view expressed in Ecclesiastes. Though the world is full of wicked and corrupt people who prosper while the righteous poor struggle and suffer, the former group of men will be condemned one day for their evil deeds. It may look now like it's not going to happen because the unrighteous appear to be getting away with it, but judgment truly will happen in the end. The former will go to eternal destruction and the latter will go to eternal reward.

MEDIA-RELATED STUFF

Congratulations to Bill Halman of Corus Cornwall on becoming a father.

A community radio association in BC wants to start a radio station whose broadcast day would include TV audio from Knowledge Network and APTN. Sounds interesting.

There's been a lot of news this week about the desire among journalists for increased protection. While criminal actions are never commendable, the utter lack of self-awareness and, frankly, an attitude bordering on narcissistic among those who work in the mainstream media is astounding. If you were actually covering stories that were important from all sides and really endeavouring to get at the truth of events, people would applaud you instead of harassing and threatening you. Also, I'm wondering how many of those threats are actual threats under the law. Someone can say something online or even in real life, but in how many cases was there truly a reason to believe the threat would be carried out?

Incidentally, its hard to believe how many truth blogs and websites have been out and out banned (Wordpress I'm looking in your direction) or gone offline for other reasons.

While I'm not really a fan of them, Educational Media Foundation has purchased and changed the formats of WUYL-FM and WVNV-FM in upstate New York to K-Love. Here's hoping those stations, which blast into Montreal, will help win that city for Christ.
