EASTARM ENDORSEMENT OF DEREK SLOAN FOR CPC LEADERSHIP

AH: This does not mean I endorse Sloan, but Graydon says some things here that really needed to be said. Plus, it would be nice to see a Christian become leader of the federal Conservatives.

To Our Mission Partners Across Canada,

I'm writing this endorsement letter at what I believe is an important and in many ways unprecedented moment in our young country's history. In short, as the Director and Founder of East Africa River Mission, I aim to endorse Derek Sloan as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, and Lord-willing as Canada's next Prime Minister. By month's end, I am calling all of our mission partners who have a membership with the CPC to strongly consider voting Derek into the leadership position of this party and persuade others under your influence to do the same, as we set the stage for a National Election.

Though the focus of our mission's work is in Tanzania, Africa, our roots are in Canada and we are active across this country. By our hard work in transforming a collective of rural Tanzanian villages out of physical and spiritual poverty, we have earned the favour and ear of the Canadian Christian community. I see the same grit and resolve in Derek Sloan. Further, as one who appreciates the burden of leadership, I see in Derek the inherent tenacity "without apology" necessary to attain the top position within his party, and ultimately, our country.

It has always been the ambition of East Africa River Mission to usher God's Kingdom, as described in the Bible and written on our hearts, into the places where we are. This is our connection with this coming election in Canada. In the same way we as a mission have established ourselves in the African villages by seeking out the vulnerable, mistreated, and chasing away the evil agendas of those who maintain the poverty of the people, I see this ambition in Derek Sloan. Canada is in need of a drastic change. We are living in evil days, where twisted ideologies are irreversibly foisted upon the most vulnerable of our society; days where agendas, rotten to the core, are promoted by mass movements falsely advertising peace and liberation on the surface. These are days where the unwanted ones among us, deemed so by the prevailing morality, are done away with without conscience or inconvenience.

Derek Sloan, in my estimation, has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the vital issues of the day. He has put in his time. Further, he stands on the forefront of these issues as a voice mirroring the heart of the Almighty. He is ready to leverage whatever title granted him to fight, uncompromisingly so, until the conventional ill is undone. His ambition is not for the political position or accolade of men, as seen in the depraved and current top leadership of our country, rather I'm confident with Derek the job is a means to a righteous end. This is a man we must promote to the position.

As God-fearers, it is our duty and obligation to use the power afforded us, to whatever extent it has been entrusted to us. If it is our power to vote, we vote. If it is our power to lead, we lead. The very lives of others are truly at stake, ours as well if we fail to act. Too often we confuse the line where the responsibility of God starts and expectation of us ends. In truth, there is no line, because God has no limit. Therefore, if it is within your unmerited favour to act, you act. It is high time for the Christian community, the church, to drop the pitfall of political correctness and secular servitude, and resolve to serve God with every opportunity. How can those who profess Christ disassociate ourselves from a system that preys on the ones God loves? Our silence and inaction has effectively rendered us impotent, non-essential to a world in need. Together we are a significant number.

Each one's actions will be counted. To that end East Africa River Mission exists, and we endorse Derek Sloan without reservation. Our mission was founded by audacious faith, it is in our bones, and even in this endorsement we live outside of convention. It is audacious to think you can change a country, speak life into what has died. We approve Derek Sloan in this endeavour. Let each one live without regret, to daily be bold and courageous. For this is the only clear path forward regardless of which mission or continent you find yourself on today, be it Africa or North America. It is nonsensical to mourn indecision after the fact. It is rational to act in each moment. It is right to seek after God, and when you identify the places where He is, to strive after Him with one heart. As Canadians, let us do what we can to position Derek where God would have him, while it is within our power and obligation to do so.
