A Florida woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly stabbing her friend with scissors after he told her she couldn’t drink a beer in an Uber, authorities said.
On Mon., July 13, Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to online jail records.
The incident unfolded that night when a deputy with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office was called to Southwest 137th Avenue and Southwest 74th Street in Miami, where the victim said Zamora became “irritated” with him because she wanted to drink a beer in an Uber they were taking to a friend’s house, an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE alleges.
After telling Zamora several times that she couldn’t drink alcohol in the rideshare vehicle, she took out a pair of scissors from her purse and stabbed him in the left bicep and left calf, breaking the skin, the affidavit says.
He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
The Uber driver confirmed what had allegedly happened in the vehicle.
Uber’s community guidelines state that “drug use and open containers of alcohol are never allowed while using the Uber Marketplace Platform,” and riders are instructed to “never bring illegal drugs or open containers of alcohol into a car.”
Zamora was arrested and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond.
On Tues., July 14, Zamora appeared in court, where her defense attorney asked that she be given hospital treatment, NBC6 reported.
The prosecutor, however, asked the judge for a monetary bond, saying Zamora is a flight risk with a criminal record, NBC6 reports.
Her defense attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
