Róisín Michaux @RoisinMichaux: Last week I went to pride in Dublin. I was in shock at the mix of childish aesthetics and hardcore porn on display. I saw a girl standing at the side of the road roaring crying and I asked her what happened. She said a man had sexually assaulted her: he ran up to her and put his hands under her clothes, molested her and forcibly kissed her. She looked about 15. All of her friends (all dressed up in the “queer” uniform, girls who looked like they would have been emos a decade ago) were all freaking out, trying to get help. One of them went up to the police who were passing in their rainbow squad car, she was telling the guards through the window of the car but they just kept going. So I ran off and found another Garda (on a bike) who wasn’t “marching” in the parade but “working”. He was having a great time chatting to people and wouldn’t budge. I said “a girl has been sexually assaults down there” and he said “if she comes up this way I’ll have a word with her”. The girl told me the man was “brown with a Palestine hat” so I went looking for him myself. I couldn’t find him. He may have been from a culture where all sexuality is taboo and here he was in an open air sex club with children everywhere. Paradise
James P. Sullivan @JustinK69383351: I was in Temple Bar on the Friday before the parade. I saw 2 50 something "trans women", one in a tiny miniskirt with a fake dick hanging out and the other one kept fondling it. This was around 6pm with children around.
