This is a complicated question to answer, but I will try to answer it with some Biblical truth, and common sense.
Daniel Hewgill (1784-1874) was my 4th great-grandfather, and until 1832 he lived in Damby in the north of England. He was educated, hard working, and above all else God fearing. In 1832, he packed a steamer trunk, wife Alice, (1787-1849), and four children and headed across the ocean.
He carried with him one other essential forgotten in this day and age, the Bible. One fellow passenger said of Daniel he had never met such a devout and God fearing individual in his life. He went on to explain that Daniel was an active preacher, and did not partake in the riotous behavior of the other passengers. He passed on his values to my 3rd great-grandfather William (1821-1896), and 2nd great-grandfather Thomas (1852-1955.)
What has happened?
We have strayed so far from the narrow path because we crave total inclusion. It is still perfectly fine to discriminate against someone with a disability, however if you protest a homosexual establishment in your town you are pretty much tarred and feathered in the public square.
I often wonder, and have thought of it recently as Canada Day approaches, what would Daniel, William, and Thomas think of this dumpster fire of a country, or should I say non-country?
Gillie
