A 23-year-old woman has been accused of posing as a substitute teacher because she was “bored.”

Amy Jones was charged with five counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions and one count of impersonating a public employee on Sunday, Oct. 4, in relation to the alleged incident that occurred on Sept. 24, according to court records viewed by PEOPLE.

Jones allegedly scouted Milwaukee Public Schools’ Rufus King International High School one week before the incident. She is a former Rufus King student, and according to a criminal complaint, she got past school security by blending in with students, Fox 6 reports. During the initial visit, she overheard faculty discussing a substitute teaching agency.

Then, on Sept. 24, eight teachers were absent and seven substitutes were on staff. Jones “got lucky because there happened to be an unfilled position,” principal Doreen Badillo said, and Jones posed and signed in as a substitute teacher, per Fox 6.

Jones then went to a classroom that was previously set up by a different teacher, who stayed with Jones for 20 minutes. After the teacher left, Jones allegedly asked the students if anyone had any marijuana or a vape, per the criminal complaint, according to Law and Crime. She told the class it was “so f---ing lame and annoying.”

She allegedly organized students by race and gender, and said racial slurs and profanities. She also allegedly told a student to “shut the f--- up.” Jones also “dissed” kids for their weight, race, physical appearance and money. Additionally, she bragged about “having felonies and being okay with going to jail,” per the criminal complaint, according to Law and Crime.

Her comments were “making the whole class uncomfortable,” and after the first class, students alerted faculty. Principal Badillo called the substitute teacher agency, and they confirmed Jones was not their employee, per the criminal complaint.

Authorities arrived at the school and escorted her out. She spoke to officers after the incident and allegedly said she posed as the teacher because “she was bored.” Jones also said she hates kids and “just wanted to ‘f--- around.’”

Badillo issued a statement to the school’s students and parents, confirming that the Milwaukee Police Department school resource officers and the district’s Title IX coordinator have been alerted. Badillo also confirmed that the district is investigating the incident separately from the Milwaukee Police Department, per Fox 6.

Jones was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 6. She will next appear in court for her preliminary hearing on Oct. 20.
