Recently read "The Fragrant Garden" by Day's Lee. I found it well-written and entertaining.
It seems newer young adult contemporary books have more nuance than the older ones, with characters, particularly the adults, having more dimensionality.
Just read "The Golden Ball and Other Stories" by Agatha Christie. Never knew she wrote stories involving the supernatural. A lot of the others read a bit like they were written for magazines, with the main character marrying at the end.
