There is a difference between the sinful pride of which Charles Stanley is speaking here and the pride which consists of a simple recognition of one's abilities and accomplishments. When we as Christians do recognize our abilities and accomplishments, these thoughts should always be followed by remembering that God is the One who gave us the ability to acomplish those things.
I think a Christian could play secular music in a secular venue, but they would have to be very careful not to fall.
The worst consequence of pride isn't, as Charles Stanley says, missing out on Heaven. Rather, the worst consequence of pride is missing out on a relationship with Jesus, both here and now as well as in eternity.
