AKRON, OH (JULY 27, 2021)—What started as a bid on an abandoned building in Akron, Ohio, to what became a multi-million-dollar empire, Steve Marks co-founder of Main Street Gourmet shares his story of entrepreneurship in his memoir The Muffin Man Chronicles.
Marks’ journey started as a gourmet muffin shop that grew from a single retail location to a major wholesale operation. As a result, Marks also launched the world-class Akron Marathon, an event known across the globe.
Marks’ journey of baking muffins, to pitching McDonalds (and succeeding!), to meeting a president of the United States, is all a part of his amazing journey on owning and starting several businesses. Even congressman and astronaut John Glenn said his muffins were out of this world!
“Launching a business in my hometown was my first priority. I had no idea the journey it would become, and the different opportunities that helped me grow not only as an entrepreneur, but as an individual from that $5,000 auction bid back in 1985! It is my goal with sharing my story that I can help to inspire and guide others who have the entrepreneurial spark so they can go after their goals and achieve them,” said Marks.
