Came across a videotape recently of coverage of a fire in my small town as taped off our local cable access channel November 14, 1998. Normally, the channel ran community announcements onscreen accompanied by the audio of Mix 97 (CIGL-FM) Belleville. Thus, this tape contains some Mix 97 in the minutes prior to the repeat of the coverage of the fire, specifically "Rick Dees Weekly Top 40."
A commercial break featured spots for TAS Communications, Reid's Dairy (both voiced by Joey Martin) and Quinte Paralegal Services (voiced by Steve Marlin.)
Nonbinary Broadway Star Rejects Tony Award Consideration over Gendered Categories

A Broadway performer in a popular musical who identifies as nonbinary has refused to be considered for a Tony Award over the organization’s gendered categories.
Justin David Sullivan, who stars in the show & Juliet, is abstaining from the nomination process in protest because some of the organization’s titles are specific to men or women. Problematic categories, Sullivan suggested, include “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play” and “Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.”
Sullivan told Playbill in an interview that the current categories were not inclusive enough and that they should be amended to encompass people across the so-called gender spectrum.
“I was told that I had to choose [the category in which] I felt comfortable, and in that process, I struggled a lot,” Sullivan said. “There’s nothing more that I want to empower than non-binary people, to show that it’s possible to be non-binary on Broadway, play a non-binary character on Broadway and be nominated, and possibly potentially awarded. I felt like I couldn’t choose. I didn’t feel right being in either category because it didn’t resonate with me. I decided the only thing that felt right to me would be to abstain from nomination consideration. So I will not be considered for a Tony nomination.”
Within the notoriously progressive theatre industry, multiple organizations have eliminated gender distinctions in their awards.
The Obie Awards, which conducts awards for off-Broadway productions, and the Outer Critics Circle Awards, which recognize theatrical achievements for both on-Broadway and off-Broadway shows, removed their gendered categories this year, the Daily Mail reported.
“We recognize that the current acting categories are not fully inclusive, and we are currently in discussion about how to best adjust them to address this. Unfortunately, we are still in process on this and our rules do not allow us to make changes once a season has begun,” the Tony Awards said in a statement in response to Sullivan’s withdrawal. “We are working thoughtfully to ensure that no member of our community feel excluded in future seasons.”
Sullivan said the theatre community is extremely gender-diverse and that the awards ceremonies should reflect that.
“I hope that this is a wake-up call to not only the Tonys, but for every award show to celebrate everyone and to make sure they’re being inclusive,” Sullivan told Playbill. “Things are shifting. There are so many gender-queer and gender-expansive artists in our community, and they bring so much to the table.”

Canadian school bans Valentine’s Day to be more inclusive

A Canadian school (part of one of the wokest school boards in Ontario) has decided to cancel Valentine's Day.
Parents were notified that students at Kitchener's Jean Steckle Public School were not allowed to hand out Valentines on February 14 at school this year.
But why the tough love?
It's all about inclusivity, of course.
The memo (not made public) allegedly stated that some kids would feel left out because their families can't afford to give out any Valentine's Day card or treat. Parents were informed that kids would still be allowed to give out their Valentines before or after school... but not during school.
According to True North, the Canadian independent media outlet that broke the story, many parents are unhappy about this. On a private Facebook page, parent Stephanie Robinson expressed her disappointment.
I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the decision for not allowing the kids to hand out valentine cards. I know these topics are like walking on eggshells and I mean no disrespect to anyone. But I received an email from the admin at the school that I thought I would share in case anyone else wanted to express their disappointment.
This post quickly received over 100 comments, most of which expressed disgust that woke school officials were canceling yet another fun activity.

Some parents suggested they send the school's vice-principle Valentine's Day cards, while others said they'd send Valentines to school with their kids anyways.
Other parents expressed how sad it is to cancel Valentine's Day and how the world is a crazy place these days, so the kids should be allowed to have some fun for one day.
Another parent complained how the school board has taken away the Lord's prayer, concerts, Christmas, bringing in treats on their kids' birthdays and on Halloween, and "now no Valentine's Day?"
Our kids are only young for such a short period of time.… Valentine cards are cute and it's a special day to tell your friends and classmates you care and appreciate them. I remember doing it as a child and still have the cards.
According to trustee Cindy Watson, only one school on the board has canceled Valentine's Day (so far). Watson is even expressing regret about this approach. She said that she grew up with Valentine's Day being an excellent way to tell classmates that they care for one another.
I've heard numerous concerns from parents and from teachers who shared that all the fun traditions – Valentines, Easter, Christmas are being eliminated from the classroom.
Well, this isn't the good ol' days, is it?
The Waterloo Region District School Board prefer to feed their students woke nonsense about gender ideology and sexual orientation rather than let them have a nice, loving, and fun day at school.
As Sue-Ann Levy from True North said, "what a crazy world we are living in. These poor students are the guinea pigs for the woke mob."

Though I don't know about the whole stomach punching thing, this wonderful documentary recounts the history of the British Pentecostal revival starting in the early 1900s, in addition to delving into some of this movement's pre-history.
I'm not sure about all of it, but I do not doubt God was moving, being glorified, saving souls, destroying speculation, and healing people.
