There are two articles in the May 23 issue of Maclean's that paint "conspiracy theorists" as horrible people. These articles have to do with the recent supposed death of Osama Bin Laden.
Honestly, May 1, 2011 was the day the mainstream media officially died. Bin Laden allegedly dies and no mainstream media outlet questions it.
1. Bin Laden was living in that mansion on the edge of that village. How did no one in the village know or suspect it was him. As a resident of that village said, "Around here we know when somebody's cow has a calf." If Bin Laden had rented an abandoned house in the small town where I live, how long do you think it would be before the rumours started flying around?
2. Can we see the photos? No, they're too graphic.
3. What did you do with his body? We buried him at sea. Well, wouldn't you have wanted to fly him back to the States to perform medical examinations on him? There's all this stuff about wanting to find Hitler's brain and they just recently found out some new information about Cleopatra, so why wouldn't they want to analyze Bin Laden's remains?
4. How do you live over ten years with rienal failure?
In the same issue, Brian Bethune talks to CBC reporter Melissa Fung, who's got a new book out about her time spent as a prisoner in Afghanistan. Fung says she was worried the book would discourage women reporters from going to Afghanistan. Well, if instances like what happened to Fung are occurring, maybe women shouldn't be reporters there.
Scott Feschuk's column in the same issue, about movies at the Cannes film festival, is a keeper. Go read it!
The frequently zany scribblings of a well-rounded man with passionate opinions. Hey, it's better than "Something I put up because I needed to rant before my head exploded."

MORE VA INFORMATION
Just for clarification, I am not the Alex Horton who wrote an article about the VA in the Washington Post yesterday. His blog is called Army Of Dude. Thanks for all the attention, though.
If you have information you would like made known, send it to me and I will post it. All contributors will remain annonymous unless they ask for their name to be made known..
In that spirit, below is some information a guy sent me.
I work for a company out of Minnesota that makes penile implants, and for incontinence, the urinary sphincter and males slings. Our products are implanted because a patient has had diabetes or a radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. The VA in Washington, DC has done 1 or 2 incontinence devices in the past year or so – that’s it. Yet, I see palates of condom catheters on the loading docks. It amazes me that they care so little for the Veterans and I can’t imagine walking around wet all day and what their skin must look like. Let alone how it must affect them emotionally. Why are our Veterans being subjected to wearing condom catheters and diapers?
When women have breast cancer, they are automatically offered reconstructive surgery - even on the other normal, health breast for purposes of symmetry!! But men can’t get a penile implant or an incontinence implant after a prostatectomy when there is nerve damage. What gives with the Washington, VA? Other VAs treat these problems like in Richmond and in Delaware – You would think we would offer the same for our Vets in DC.
Thanks for hearing me out.

BOB MCINTOSH PASSES AWAY
Bob McIntosh one of the longest heard voices in Canadian radio passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital at the age of 69. Bob McIntosh has been providing The Winter Road Report for nearly 50 years, starting as an employee of the provincial transportation ministry in the 60s, later syndicated by Soundsource and since 2004 by Canadian Radio Syndications.
With his reports being heard on a great many stations, over many years, his voice would have been heard by more listeners than almost anyone else in the industry. Canadian Radio Syndications President Mike Beeston said, "the industry has lost an historic voice, a dedicated servant of the listening public, and I and many others have lost a friend."
I have heard this man on CJBQ doing traffic reports. He had a classic voice and his professionalism will indeed be missed.

VA SCAM
Got this in my email. Don't know how legit it is, but if it is legit this behaviour would not be atypical of the VA.
If it is of any use to you: A few years ago, I had 30 opioid pills
prescribed at the Washington VA. They were to be shipped via USPS.
Only 2 of them arrived. As you might expect, my calls and visits
resulted in a runaround with no effect and even worse, with the people
I contacted showing boredom. I got the clear although unspoken message
that it wasn't anything that hadn't already happened many times
before. A little back-of-the-envelope math pointed to right much
money--enough to grease the necessary palms.
I guess the people I got in touch with, at least one of whom I still
believe to have been honest, had long since realized there was nothing
that could be done. The scam was too easy to run. You just pocket 28
pills and drop the bottle in the mailbox. Nobody checks you. Or... if
anybody does check you, they make a nice chunk of change. And you
certainly know as well as I do what the attitude of the VA people is
like.

ANGELS, SATAN AND DEMONS
By Robert Lightner. Dallas: Word Publishing, 1998.
Angels In The Bible: If angels don’t have physical bodies, how did the Israelites make the golden angels for the ark of the covenant and how do you explain what Ezekiel saw?
Activity Of Angels: The fourth man in the fiery furnace wasn’t an angel, he was Jesus.
God still heals people and casts out demons, whether you like it or not. These weren’t just “sign gifts” that only the apostles were privy to. Raising the dead isn’t one of the signs that will accompany believers in Mark 16. We can’t make God do anything, but if we ask according to His will, He will do it, and it is God’s will that people be healed.
Likewise, we can not in ourselves bind Satan. We must never try to do this. However, we can bind and command Satan and cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ. The verse in Mathew about whatever we bind or loose on earth being bound or loosed in Heaven doesn’t just refer to the preaching of the gospel.

DOUGLAS COUPLAND: GENERATION HUH?
In his 2009 novel “Generation A”, Douglas Coupland makes some ridiculous assertions.
Christians were happy when the bees started to die because it proved man’s superiority over nature?: We were the ones warning people that colony collapse disorder signaled bigger troubles ahead when everybody else was saying, “It’s OK. I don’t eat honey anyway.”
Christians in their early twenties don’t have doubts?: Actually, the early twenties are when you have the most doubts, not when you’re older as Coupland seems to think. Young Christians go to college and, in addition to facing teachings about evolution and that the Bible is just a bunch of fairy tales, they are overwhelmed by their fellow students utter lack of care about how they lead their lives.
Christians would approve of a man beating a dog with a 2 by 4 because the dog doesn’t have a soul?: I haven’t run across any Christian who sanctions cruelty to animals.
Diana gets excommunicated from her Baptist church.: You can’t get excommunicated from the Baptist church! This is the most absurd thing in the book so far.
“Ideologies are for people who don’t trust their perceptions of the world”?: Seems a lot of people have “trusted their perceptions of the world” and have ruined their lives in the process.
Chloe And The Death Of The Channel 3 Newsteam: The New Vision cult in Diana’s story could be in reference to the kind of imprecatory prayers Pastor Peters has been praying. Coupland is a Jew and many of the famous, big important people in the world are Jews. Therefore, could Coupland know that our imprecatory prayers against people in high places will wipe most of the Jews out? Time to take Doug before the heavenly courtroom:
“Lord, we, meaning myself and someone else who happens across this blog and agrees with me, bring before the court Douglas Coupland. We know you know to which Douglas Coupland we refer. This man is charged with being a homosexual, as he admitted in 2006. Please carry out the appropriate penalty upon Douglas Coupland, as is found in the book of Leviticus. In Jesus name, Amen.”
So people like us are freaks? You’re going to eat those words when you’re burning in Hell.

THE BILLBOARD BOOK OF NUMBER ONE HITS
Mr. Custer: I first heard this song when I was nine years old. It was on an album my parents had called “Nutty Numbers.” I was obsessed with this song for a while. I played it and the album over and over again.
My aunt called this song “Mr. Custard.”
“Please Mr. Custard with Kool-Whip on it.”
Save The Last Dance For Me: This song always makes me think of the beginning of Pat Conroy’s novel “Beach Music.” Shyla, the wife of the main character, commits suicide by jumping off a bridge while “Save The Last Dance For Me” (Shyla and Jack’s song) plays on the car’s cassette player.
Georgia On My Mind: I would like to take this opportunity to say just because I’m blind, that doesn’t mean I like Ray Charles. Can you people get that through your heads? In fact, I think he led a horrible lifestyle and was a nigger in many ways. I hear his music and think, “This guy’s supposed to be one of the greatest singers in the world?” It’s too poppy!
Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: This is a song that was meant for the teeny boppers listening to top 40 radio, but which is actually quite adult and mature.
Mother-in-law: I first heard this song on “Finkleman’s 45s” on CBC in the mid-nineties. My aunt and uncle were down for a visit and the next morning my aunt said she had heard the song coming from my room. She then started to sing it.
Surrender: Sounds like a rip-off of “Secret Agent Man.”
Moody River: Ever notice that, in the old songs, women who cheated on their significant others or men who had affairs with other guy’s women always ended up dying, either getting killed by an avenging spouse or taking their own lives with guilt? This shows you that the songwriters back then had God’s law concerning adultery on their hearts.
Now, in a song or in real life when a partner (usually a boyfriend) cheats, the girlfriend thinks, “Moneymaker!”
Quarter To Three: Sounds a lot like “School Is Out.”
Also, the mention of “Daddy G”, referring to the singer, Gary US Bonds, makes it sound self-indulgent; a precursor to the self-indulgent rap music of today.
Wooden Heart: I think I might have the album this song comes from, but it could be an Elvis album.
Michael: This has basically been reduced to a children’s song.
Take Good Care Of My Baby: This song always makes me think of someone dropping a baby off at an orphanage.
Big Bad John: Double Exposure did a parody of this song with Bob Robertson as Jean Cretien. The only line from the verses I remember is:
“One night a prowler break into my house.”
The Lion Sleeps Tonight: My friend was obsessed with this song when we were eleven years old.
The lion in this song actually refers to the Lion Of Judah, Jesus Christ and his people. The message from these three Jews was, “Don’t worry, fellow Jewish people. The lions of Judah are asleep. We can carry out our evil deeds and not get caught.”
