Dear braille readers
CELA has planned a temporary pause for braille production and delivery beginning October 19 while our braille services are being relocated and the machines which produce our embossed braille are being moved. We anticipate this process will require approximately 2 - 3 weeks for relocation, machine reassembly, and testing.
During this time, you will be able to put braille books on hold, and we will resume production and distribution of embossed braille, as well as mailing of printbraille books, as soon as the machines are available again.
All other formats, including electronic braille and reloading of Envoy Connects, will be available during this period.
If braille material is essential for your school or work, please make those requests as soon as possible so that they can be produced and mailed before October 19.
If you are a printbraille reader, please note that our printbraille distribution will also be on hold during this time, but you can still return printbraille books to us during this period.
We are pleased to announce that we will begin using new printbraille bags in the coming weeks. The new bags are a lighter blue colour and will now have the CELA logo. While the look of the bags is changing slightly, the process of using them remains the same. If you have some of the existing bags at home, you can continue to use them to return materials to us. Our printbraille books have a six week loan period. You can find the due date of your printbraille books by logging into CELA and visiting My account. Kindly return your books on time as others may be waiting for a copy.
