TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY

The truth died on a cross to reconcile the world to Himself. Anyone, white, Native or otherwise who does not get this fact is destined to be lost forever.

Right now a spirit of bitterness, hatred and self-pity exists among certain Native people which must be broken through the power of Jesus Christ. Acts 2 38

OBSOLETE SOUNDS

Sure are a lot of neat disappearing sounds and sounds from the past on this site.

INTERESTING AUDIO: FIDDLING IN THE OTTAWA VALLEY I

Tape 1: Some men and women having a fiddler's song circle. Talk about playing the music. At one point, one of the women asked, "Do yous want some tea." The men refused as they didn't want to be distracted. Talk about deer hunting and what to do with the meat, how quickly the carcass rots. Talk about dancing to fiddle music. Three of the men's names were Ross, Gord and Bill. One of the men mentioned that he was born in Douglas and worked in Toronto and Montreal. Some of the tunes were accompanied by spoons. There was electrical interference in some spots.

LIBERAL PARENTS GROUND KID FROM USING PREFERRED PRONOUNS FOR A MONTH

Liberal Parents Ground Kid From New Pronouns For A Month

WORLDVIEWS

Sep 28, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

CHICAGO, IL — A local progressive couple sought to solve their teenage child's outburst of rebellion against their authority by grounding the teen from using any cool new pronouns for a full month.

"That's it! You're officially back to being She/Her for the next month!" father Phil Brooks said sternly. "If you want to enjoy the privileges of choosing your own pronouns, you'll have to respect the rules of this house! No more of this ‘Xe/Xer' or 'Hi/Hir' or 'Ximmity/Xe' stuff for the next 30 days, do I make myself clear?"

The couple's child, Starburst, a teenager who identifies as neither a boy nor a girl nor a human, did not receive the news of the punishment well. "That's so unfair!" Starburst shouted. "All of my friends get to use their preferred pronouns as much as they want! My friend Rhiannon — Fi/Fim — never gets his pronouns taken away! This is so messed up! I need to go find a safe space!"

Starburst's other parent, April, reportedly attempted to diffuse the situation while remaining firm on the punishment. "Listen now, young person, we are your parents — he is your father, and I'm your birthing person who bleeds — you need to do as we say. You'll be welcome to go back to your new pronouns as soon as you face the consequences of your actions."

At publishing time, Starburst had made a TikTok video that went viral, weeping about the punishment and vowing to return to using Xe/Xer pronouns the very moment the calendar turned to the following month.

A GREAT SHAKING COMING TO THE CHURCH

At the rate at which the churches are compromising, fearing man and having less fear and reverence for the Lord all the time, what this video talks about happening is inevitable.

Lots of food for thought in here.

MEDIA-RELATED STUFF: BROADCAST DIALOGUE 09/28

Glad to see some of the people who lost their jobs when Bell shut down those six radio stations back in June have landed on their feet.

Congratulations to former Belleville radio newsman Tony Grace on being promoted to CTV National News.

Lots of changes at My FM. I hope this means the My FM stations will have an anncr on after 8:00 p.m.

I can see why "Entertainment Tonight Canada" is going off the air. It literally is a Canadian franchise of the famous American program, so the Canadian producers don't have much if any wiggle room to change things. Plus, the primary audience for what's being served already gets that from the internet.

One thing about the late Stan Kleese is that he came to regret the implementation of Canadian content regulations for music played on the radio.

Don't know how much CTV moving W5 will effect the show in this day and age.

DREAM ABOUT DISTRACTION

Life is not, and will not continue as it has. There are just so many distractions in life.

There is one thing, however I would disagree with in this video. Satan is not trying to stop God's plan. The devil knows he has but a short time and thus is trying to take as many people to the Hell prepared for him as he can. Don't let him do that to you.

THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS IV: FOREVER IN BLUE AKA THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS II

I liked Briget's plot in the movie a lot better than the book. Her nearly sleeping with her professor made no sense.

However, I preferred Carmen's plot in the movie. Julia trying to mess up her delivery is totally ridiculous since the director wouldn't have cast her if he thought she was reading Shakespeare all wrong.

Likewise, Lena's plot in the movie was better, too. Leo being the model and her deciding she doesn't love him but  only wants to love him works better than just falling for some guy who, other than cooking, seems to do nothing but make art.

I preferred Tibby's plot in the book as it had just that much more intricacy.

Also, why would Effie be jealous of Lena and her friends, being she was four years younger?

LUST VERSUS ATTRACTION

Here's an article concerning something about which many Christians are confused.

HOW?...

This video contains so many fundamental truths that a lot of Christians don't understand.

MEDIA-RELATED STUFF: MOSTLY TV

Actor David McCallum has died. I will remember him most for the series he hosted in the mid-nineties called "Ancient Prophecies."

Guess the going back to rock thing isn't working out as well for Radio 95.1 Rochester as was hoped since I heard a talk show on there this evening.

Glad Global Vancouver's morning show goes right into news.

THE FAMOUS AND THE INFLUENTIAL FLOCK TO SECULAR SABBATH

Fox News

As religion declines in America, influencers, celebs search for meaning at Hollywood spa: ‘Secular Sabbath’

Americans are looking for alternative ways to connect with a 'higher power' in an increasingly secular society

By Kendall Tietz Fox News

In areas of the country where religion appears to be on the decline, Americans are looking for alternative ways to connect with a "higher power."

Secular Sabbath, a members-only club in West Hollywood, attracts a "couple hundred" members, including influencers, models and celebrities looking for meaning in an increasingly secular society. While many Americans no longer attend a formal church service, they're still looking to God for purpose and comfort, according to a report by the Free Press.

"Secular Sabbath is a new kind of meditation practice in which you incorporate multiple sensory experiences and awareness practices to achieve the ultimate state of relaxation and restoration to bring into your daily life," according to its website.

In the 1950s, close to zero Americans identified as having no religious preference, but that number has risen to over one-fifth of the country's population who currently describe themselves as atheist, agnostic, or "nothing in particular." Under this current trajectory, Pew modeling predicts that around two-thirds of Americans won't identify as religious by 2070.

Secular Sabbath's founder, 32-year-old Genevieve Medow-Jenkins, said the community is an offshoot of her youth spent at The Esalen Institute, a wellness retreat in Big Sur, California, where her parents worked as "bodyworkers." She was raised Jewish, and while she doesn't regularly go to temple, she still finds God in her life and aims to reverse the idea many young people have that God is uncool.

"I knew that I had to share my upbringing with the world," Medow-Jenkins told the Free Press. "And Secular Sabbath is this chrysalis of what Esalen was in the ’90s, when I was growing up."

"I hope that they connect with a sense of purpose, through God or something greater than just themselves in this world," she added. Medow-Jenkins said she still comes back to God in moments of vulnerability.

"The other day, I was upset about something," she said. "And in that moment, I asked God for help."

While some members see the events, which are hosted primarily in California, but have also been held in Iceland and Mexico City, as a place to go where they can be themselves without any rules, other attendees see it as a way to experience God in a new way.

"It [religion] was so negative for me because it was so rule-bound," Medow-Jenkins said. "And I knew when I created Secular Sabbath, I didn’t want it to have many rules. I wanted it to feel like you could be any version of something and still be included."

In direct response, Secular Sabbath doesn't have any rules listed on its website and while drugs and alcohol aren’t provided or encouraged at her its events, Medow-Jenkins said she doesn't take those vices away from her guests if they do decide to bring them to her Sabbath, the Free Press reported.

DJ and songwriter Diplo, an attendee of the club and its events, told the Free Press that "anything that makes you feel like you’re celebrating life is a church."

Both Diplo's mom and sister recently passed away, which has brought him back to church, but he told the Free Press there are other places to connect with God.

"Everyday is church for me," he said. "I’m always like, at the club … That is the church because people go there to deal with their problems."

Despite its religious undertones, Medow-Jenkins said she focuses more on Eastern rituals that attendees are more open to, instead of Western, Christian traditions.

AUBURN STUDENTS RISH INTO LAKE FOR IMPROMPTU BAPTISMS AS FOOTBALL COACH LENDS A HAND AT MASSIVE WORSHIP EVENT

"In American culture, we are so disconnected from feeling passionately about things—because it’s terrifying to care," she said. "People are afraid to feel into spirituality."

A National Opinion Research Center (NORC) poll, in partnership with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), concluded that religion in the U.S. has declined in importance over the past 25 years with 39% of people labeling religion as "very important" in 2023 as compared to 62% in 1998.

Many Christian faith leaders have indicated that a variety of factors have contributed to the decline in religion, including the COVID-19 pandemic and anxiety, specifically among young people. Father Mike Schmitz, the host of the Bible in a Year podcast, previously told Fox News that "at some point," spirituality without religion "is not enough" because people "hunger" to have a spiritual life.

AH: Just like everything else that isn't a relationship with Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of the sabbath, Secular Sabbath will ultimately fail to satisfy its adherents.

A single bean: Remember, everyone has to share, so slice it up.

Ramen with extra water: The water really brings out the flavor and helps it last longer.

A nice juicy steak: From the dumpster behind Longhorn Steakhouse.

Your neighbor's cat: If it's good enough for Venezuelans, it's good enough for you.

Lightly used sushi purchased on Facebook Marketplace: It's just as good now as it was when it was made a week ago!

Your own words: Eating your own words doesn't just keep you out of trouble, it's highly nutritious. Yum!

Costco samples: Keep a sufficient supply of fake mustaches, hats, and glasses so you can hit every vendor multiple times.

A hearty meal of braised quail, shrimp, fresh vegetables, and a glass of finely aged wine: (Biden family members only.)

See? You can feed your entire family, even under Bidenomics. You just have to be willing to be a little creative. Happy feasting!

TEEN WHO SUFFERED LOSS OF LEG IN ACCIDENT CALLED LAZY AND TOLD TO MOVE FROM TRAIN SEAT

Fox News

Teen who suffered loss of leg in accident is called 'lazy child' on train, ordered to 'get up' from seat

Some 15,000 reactions and 2,000 comments have come in to date on an unfortunate travel situation

By Maureen Mackey Fox News

Published September 9, 2023 8:13pm EDT

A teenager shared an unfortunate personal story on Reddit — and in a very short time has elicited some 15,000 reactions and 2,000 comments from others on social media who responded to the post.

"A few years ago," wrote the young woman, identifying herself as a 16-year-old, "I lost my left leg in an accident."

She's "been using a prosthetic leg since then," she said, "and because my family is well [off], it is a pretty advanced one to the point where it just looks like I just have two normal legs whenever I wear long trousers."

She added, "Which I usually do because I'm really self-conscious about showing my prosthetic."

She continued to share her story with others on the subreddit known as AITA ("Am I the a--hole?"). "These days," she wrote, "I can pretty much do anything I like without issues — walking, running, going upstairs, etc."

The teen also said that her "main issue is keeping my balance when there are sudden changes in movement, in places like trains and buses. Which is where the topic of this post comes in," added the Reddit writer, who goes by the username "Swimming-Contact6122."

"I was riding the train and sat down in the seat reserved for disabled, elderly and pregnant women," she said (she did not share her location).

"It was pretty busy," she added, "so there were no other seats available."

Later, after a few stops, she said "a woman came up to me telling me I needed to move, because she needs that seat and I shouldn't be sitting there."

The teenager said she responded that she "was sorry — but I needed the seat myself."

The woman, the teen continued, "got all argumentive that I just need to get up, because the seat is meant for the elderly and I'm just a lazy child who is more than capable of standing."

So the teen again "apologized," but said that she "really needed the seat myself."

The teen said the woman then "left and got the train conductor, who also told me to get up from the seat."

The teenager then shared what she did next.

"I was really done with being treated this way now, so I rolled up my trouser leg, showed my prosthetic — and told her I wasn't going to move," she said.

At that point, added the teenager in her Reddit post, the woman who had been bothering her "suddenly got very red-faced and mumbled something before she got off at the next station."

The teen asked others on the social media platform if she was wrong for the way she handled the awkward and difficult situation.

She added, "I could have said, ‘I have a prosthetic,' right away, but it's a really touchy subject for me and it makes me feel very self-conscious."

She also shared, "That's why I always wear long trousers so nobody can see or has to know."

Fox News Digital reached out to a psychologist for insight.

Said Dr. Jayme Albin, PhD, a clinical psychologist in New York, "Being sensitive to someone’s story and potential disability is always important, so I don’t think it was quite right for the passenger to assume that the young woman didn’t belong in the seat and try to assert her authority."

Added Albin, "However, I will say this. If a person is going to ask for, or use, areas specially designated for people with disabilities, then he or she should be prepared to share that they're part of the group and that they need special assistance."

Dr. Albin also said, "It doesn’t mean they need to make themselves vulnerable or let anyone know their story — but they do need to let them know the situation."

Wrote one responder on the subreddit, earning 16,000 "upvotes" alone for this comment, "We're all built differently. I'd have just pulled up my pant leg and been like, ‘You f---ing serious?’ But you did it differently and more politely than [most] would have done."

Added the commenter, "You cannot possibly be an a--hole for handling it more graciously than most would."

Wrote another person in reply to the original post, "Seriously … what’s up with people thinking that young people can’t possibly be disabled or in pain?"

This same person went on, "I had a friend of a friend in college who had to get surgery, as she’s deaf in one ear. One of her professors wouldn’t accommodate her. She showed up to class with her hair messy and the part that was shaved for surgery, with fresh stitches on her head and all."

The same writer added, "You could legit be dying and old people think you can walk it off, [or] you’re exaggerating, you’re lying [or] it can’t possibly be that bad."

Continued this same commenter, "Imagine if we treated the elderly that way. It wouldn’t be fair, right?"

Wrote another person in response to the teen's story, "No one is obligated or entitled to know your disability. You shouldn’t have to ‘prove’ that you belong in a disabled space. Some disabilities are less obvious or even invisible."

The commenter finished with, "This woman and especially the train conductor had no right to question you this was. It was inappropriate and unprofessional."

Yet another responder to the tale wrote, "You are not required to tell the world your situation. She forced your hand. Maybe she will think twice next time."

Said someone else in a simple statement of sympathy, "I’m sorry this happened to you."

COMEDIAN HASIN MINHAJ UNDER FIRE FOR FABRICATING STORIES IN HIS ROUTINES THAT PORTRAYED HIM AS VICTIM OF RACISM

National Review

Comedian Hasan Minhaj Under Fire for Fabrications in Routines Portraying Himself as Victim of Racism

By ARI BLAFF

September 16, 2023 11:13 AM

Stand-up comedian Hasan Minhaj revealed that many elements of his routines portraying himself to be the victim of racism in America were fabricated.

A profile of Minhaj appearing in the New Yorker on Friday highlighted that the popular comedian and host of the Netflix show Patriot Act made up details of trademark bits such as a prom date dumping him based on his skin color. During another bit, Minhaj lied about rushing his daughter to the hospital after receiving an envelope he thought contained anthrax .

“Every story in my style is built around a seed of truth,” Minhaj told the outlet. “My comedy Arnold Palmer is 70% emotional truth — this happened — and then 30% hyperbole, exaggeration, fiction.”

On other occasions, Minhaj touted his ability to recognize FBI informants sent to surveil the Muslim community in the wake of 9/11 and claimed he confronted Jared Kushner at a Time 100 Gala for supposedly taking the seat of a Saudi dissident. “You have got to take the shots you are given in life, even if they’re built on a lie,” Minhaj told the New Yorker, defending his practice of fudging stories. “The emotional truth is first. The factual truth is secondary.”

“No, I don’t think I’m manipulating [the audience],” he added. “I think they are coming for the emotional roller-coaster ride. . . . To the people that are, like, ‘Yo, that is way too crazy to happen,’ I don’t care because yes, f**k yes — that’s the point.”

Following the story, Minhaj sought to downplay the admissions in several identical statements to media outlets in an attempt to quell mounting backlash. “All my standup stories are based on events that happened to me. Yes, I was rejected from going to prom because of my race. Yes, a letter with powder was sent to my apartment that almost harmed my daughter. Yes, I had an interaction with law enforcement during the war on terror. Yes, I had varicocele repair surgery so we could get pregnant. Yes, I roasted Jared Kushner to his face,” the comedian told Variety.

“I use the tools of standup comedy—hyperbole, changing names and locations, and compressing timelines to tell entertaining stories. That’s inherent to the art form.”

Still, many fans appear to be crestfallen by the revelations. “As someone who just spent $90 on a ticket to see Hasan Minhaj,” one former fan reacted, “to say I’m bummed is an understatement.”

In early August, the entertainment outlet Variety reported that Minhaj was one of three potential candidates to replace Trevor Noah on The Daily Show following his departure in December 2022.

WIDOW SUING GOOGLE MAPS AFTER GPS SENT HER LATE HUSBAND OVER A COLLAPSED BRIDGE

Not the Bee

Google Maps allegedly sent a man across a bridge, after leaving his daughter's b-day party in 2022, that had collapsed... in 2013. His widow is suing the company.

Mister Retrops

Sep 21, 2023 · NottheBee.com

The Snow Creek Bridge in North Carolina collapsed in 2013 and was never repaired. It was also never physically marked or cordoned off.

On top of that, despite being notified multiple times that the bridge was out, Google never updated their maps app either.

So on a pitch-black, rainy night on Sept. 30, 2022 after staying late to clean up after his 9-year-old daughter's birthday party, Phillip Paxson trusted the machine and crossed the bridge blind.

His Jeep Gladiator plunged into the river below, killing him.

A year later, his widow, who had driven home with their two daughters in a separate car, is suing Google for negligence and wrongful death.

You might wonder, like I did, why she didn't sue the county or the state for not maintaining the road; North Carolina isn't run by libertarians, after all.

Well, funny I should mention that, the bridge in question was on a private road that belonged to a company that went bankrupt and dissolved in the 1990's, so the road's maintenance went with it.

Because of that, the bereft widow is suing the only party available: the company that directed her husband to cross the non-existent bridge via an automated GPS app.

Google released the following statement regarding the lawsuit:

We have the deepest sympathies for the Paxson family. Our goal is to provide accurate routing information in Maps and we are reviewing this lawsuit.

Stories like this just make me all the more hesitant to hand over the steering wheel to an automated system.
