Here's the original version of "Going Up the Country" by Henry Thomas. People will remember this song being a hit for Canned Heat in the sixties, or possibly their version of it being used in a car dealership commercial on Rochester, New York TV in the nineties.

From blues to rhythm 'n blues now with Gloria Jones and the original version of "Tainted Love." Bet a lot of you didn't know the eighties version was a cover.

Now to folk with a song that's an original but still a cover: the original version of "Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel. That is, "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" not the title track version.
