MUSICAL WANDERINGS: A FEW THOUGHTS ON VARIOUS GENRES

Have been listening to Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie recently. Makes you truly realize jazz is America's classical music.

Listening to bluegrass and old country singers such as George Jones, it really comes across how that music was an outlet for men to feel and express emotions in times and places where that wasn't acceptible.

Roy Orbison: combining the crooners and the rock and roll singers and doing it really well., and he was also part of a rock supergroup. 

Have been recognizing more songs coming from people's car stereos lately.

Surprised to hear about the death of comedian Ron Sexton from "The Bob and Tom Show."

I normally find Lisa Garr absolutely boring, but I enjoyed the interview she did Saturday night on "Coast to Coast" with that woman who survived up in the Arctic. 

Still floors me one of the hosts of CBC's "Cost of Living" couldn't pronounce annual a few weeks ago.

Got a feeling the recently fired Don Geronimo will land on his feet.

This video is right on. I have been bemoaning society's lack of practical knowledge for years and my parents were doing so years before me.

Also, education is a lousy substitute for experience. 

TRUST IN JESUS, NOT IN YOURSELF

The world is very big on "Follow your heart, learn to trust in yourself", but this is totally false and in fact is even something that leads to death. This article gives a good exposition of why we should, indeed, as Proverbs 3 5-7 says, trust in the Lord and not rely on what we ourselves think.

This video is a great testament to what God can do, how He answers our prayers and works in our lives. However, husbands and wives, let's not do the thing that broke this marriage in the first place.
