Craig Horton, beloved father, Centre Hastings fire chief and owner of Craig's Car Clinic, passed away last Saturday at the age of 67.
One thing I picked up from Dad was his work ethic. He taught that if something's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Whatever you do, do it diligently.
Dad didn't really have any vices. He wasn't an alcoholic, he didn't do drugs, he didn't smoke cigarettes, he didn't like to gamble, and he didn't look at Playboy.
The national divorce rate is about 35 percent. The divorce rate among parents of children with disabilities is near 90 percent. This fact alone stands Dad in excellent stead.
One thing I'll always remember about Dad was his relationship with our cats. For years, Dad said he hated them. Yet, he always talked to them, petted them and commented on their different personalities and what they were doing. He especially became good friends with our most recent feline acquesition.
