PROVERBS 14

Proverbs 14

v1: A woman operating in God's wisdom creates a good household, but a woman operating sinfully tears her household down.

v2: People don't respect or even want to acknowledge there is a God because of their sinful condition.

v4: If you work hard, then chances are you'll have something to show for it, whereas if you're lazy chances are you won't.

v6: People who are against God tend to look for wisdom in lots of other sources, but they never find the answer. A believer, however, gains the answers to the reality of the universe the more time he spends with the Lord.

v7: If you know someone is giving you a bunch of bull, turn them off.

v11: The wicked will perish in Hell but Christians will live eternally with God in our glorified bodies.

v12: Unbelievers want to live the way they think is right, but that only leads to eternal death in Hell.

v15: Don't believe everything you see, hear, read, etc. but always be thoughtful as you go through life.

v16: Believers respect God so they flee evil situations, but fools get angry if you point out something is evil and think their own way is best.

v17: If you are an unrighteous person who is easily angered and always thinking up ways to get back at or get  one over on others, then people will hate you.

v21: As Christians, it feels good to help people as opposed to harbouring feelings of hatred for them.

v23: It's one thing to constantly talk about how you are going to do something, but actions speak louder than words in that case.

v26: Those who respect the Lord can be sure of a place of eternal safety in Him, and they also don't need to fear he'll suddenly kick them out of His kingdom in this life.

v27: In our relationship with Christ we Christians find eternal life and are protected and guided away from those sins that lead to both physical death and eternal death in Hell.

v29: It's wise to be slow to get angry but someone who is quick to get angry ends up looking like a fool.

v34: We in the West wonder why we have so many social problems. This verse reveals the answer.

v35: When Christians act with the wisdom that comes from God, that is what will cause Jesus to call us good and faithful servants at the judgment (Matthew 25 23), but when we act outside of this wisdom, we bring shame upon God in the eyes of those to whom we have acted unrighteously.
