RADIO-RELATED STUFF

Picked up WDCX last Saturday morning with financial advice show followed by "The Raw Truth."

It is indeed sad to learn of the death of Dr. Joy Brown. She was one of the few remaining weekday talk show hosts who actually did something useful, as opposed to political sniping.

Would like to listen to Radio That Doesn't Suck but can't get the player to work.

RADIO-RELATED STUFF

Have been picking up WDCX Buffalo the last couple Sundays with the program from Scott Street Church in St. Catharines.

Haven't been getting CKOL on 100.7 ever since the Thursday night I picked up 93.7 WBLK Buffalo on that frequency.

Have really been enjoying the new serees "Big Country" on CBC Radio One. I love the eclectic playlists. Also, Canadians have been making a splash in Nashville for decades but CBC so rarely highlights anybody newer than Hank Snow, with the exception of Shania Twain.

Listen to The Haze FM.

Also, listen to Blast The Radio.

Have been enjoying CJBQ's seventieth anniversary programming.

WBLK Buffalo was broadcasting on 100.7 last night as CKOL's 93.7 signal was being overridden by BLK and re-transmitting on OL's Madoc repeater.

Speaking of which, I see CKOL has now gone 24-7.

BLASTS FROM THE PAST

Came across a couple interesting tapes recently.

The first had been dubbed from a cd and featured Christian children's songs, later explained as being part of a Sunday school curriculum from Thank You Music. After this explanation, there followed a sample of R&B style songs for the December 1996 African-American curriculum. The person making the tape apparently then stopped the cd and switched over to what I guessed was the FM side of the radio spectrum with a partial soundbite of a woman on a telephone discussing what sounded like job action on the part of nurses.

The other tape was of a Christmas program done at a church as a fundraiser for Heart of Hastings Hospice. There was a welcome, music by a choir, a call to worship, prayer, readings, and the offering. It sounded like it might have been dubbed from a master tape of the event as there was about thirty seconds of repetition at one point.
