Hi  all,
Just a  quick heads-up about 2 special events coming up soon....
• Kitchen Party at the Railway Station (Stirling)
• Acoustic Song Circle at O’Hara Mills
1) Kitchen Party at the Railway  Station– Friday, February 13th at the Stirling Grand Trunk  Railway Station. Doors open to the public @ 6 pm.
All the details are in the attached    poster. I invite you to print out a few copies: share them with friends, give    them to people who may be interested, post them on community bulletin boards,    in shops, restaurants, laundromats, etc.
We    have confirmed dates with the Stirling Rotary Club to host a series of 5 Friday evening events: February 13,    March 13, April 10, May 8 and June 19.    The program will follow a format similar to the one we ran at the Station in    November:
6    pm – Doors open and food service (Chili    – vegetarian and meat options) Bar    open (wine, beer, coffee, tea and soft drinks).
6:30 pm – Music on    stage:
·Intro:    Host    (3 – 4 songs) 15 minutes
·Open-mic:    2 – 3 songs per performer (max 10 minutes per person)
·Feature    performer #1:    30 minute set
8:30    pm – break/interval – 5    minutes.
8:35 pm – Music on stage:
·Intro:    Guest Artist (3 – 4 songs) 15 minutes
·Open-mic:    2 – 3 songs per performer (max 10 minutes per person)
·Feature    performer #2:    30 minute set
10:30    pm – Finis
Apparently we got the mix right. Good    feature performers attracted an audience of local people who were there for    the music. The open-mic performers were excellent: a variety of age ranges and    experience offering a broad selection of material. The audience was    appreciative and stayed engaged throughout. It was a tremendous success, very well attended:    standing room only, right to the doors of the hall. Feedback from the Rotary    members, the performers and throughout the community was overwhelmingly    positive.
The ‘Feature Performers’ in February are ‘For The Love’    (Stirling) and Patty Timms (Hastings). Brief write-ups along with a photo are    included on the poster. I will be ‘hosting’ the stage and the ‘guest artist’    (opens the second half of the program) will be Andrew Gardiner (Stirling).
Stage set-ups can accommodate instruments with or    without internal pickups. There will be 3 vocal microphones plus an additional    2 mics primarily for  instruments. Anyone interested to assist with stage    set-up, sound, or helping out during the evening please contact me in    advance.
2) Acoustic Song Circle at O’Hara  Mills– Monday, February 16th – 11 AM to 3 PM –  Location: O’Hara Mills Conservation Area
I    have been asked to host an Acoustic Song Circle as part of    the ‘Winter    Family Fun Day at O’Hara Mills Homestead’ on the    Family Day holiday. This is an event being held in    support of the ‘Building    Positive Horizons Foundation’ (BPHF) focused on issues surrounding Children’s    Mental Health to provide a low-cost family day out which is fun,    healthy, and predominantly outdoors.
In addition to the song circle – in    the (heated) Visitor Centre building – other activities will    include....

horse drawn sleigh rides

dog sled rides

story telling in the log  house

indoor games in the schoolroom

‘snow person’ building (I admit to having      trouble with this one: animals, creatures from outer space and monsters do      not seem to be represented here....)

ice skating on the mill pond

cross cut sawing (banjo and accordion      players beware....?)
Directions to O’Hara Mills Conservation Area (638 Mill    Road, Madoc): from Hwy # 62 (north of Hwy #7) to Mill Road,    turn west. Proceed to 638 Mill Road (on the north side).
Hope we’ll see you at both these events. It’s going to be  a really good weekend for music!
....And a reminder of these regular musical gatherings  (coming up really soon):

Friday, February 6th: First Friday    Open Mic at the Marmora and Area Curling    Club

Sunday, February 8th: the Amazing Jam    at the Black Dog in Stirling.

Monday, February 9th: Beaufort Song    Circle at the Beaufort Pub in    Belleville.
Details about these events and all kinds of  good music connections are posted on the  Facebook page ‘BV Amazing Music’.
