You don't have to explain everything. Readers are capable of picking up on things in context.

Don't take one whole paragraph to describe the weather or a character's looks. Either weave those details in with the action or just forget about them.

Also, halfway through "One Day At a Time" you apparently finaly realized Leslie should act more like an Englishman.
